If you have told a child a thousand times and he still does not understand, then it is not the child who is the slow learner.

Read my words… no tax cuts for the rich…
I guess my entire column could be could a public service announcement in many ways… one of my goals being to hopefully give pub to certain news items that either may often fall by the wayside and belittle read or heard, or in offering some alternative opinions that I would hope would give at least some who read it another option to decide on persnickety issues. I open this week’s column with a blatant and specific direct appeal to all my readers about a particular and specific bone of contention with the elephants in the Senate and their so-called Tax Reform Bill… which is really a tax-up-your-ass bill for a significant part of we the people.
The scum sucking lackeys of the .0001%… also known in this column as the elephants (elsewhere as republicans) have inserted a little piece to the Senate tax bill that would repeal the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) individual mandate (the requirement that people purchase health insurance or pay a fine) in their Tax Bill that is once again a try to repeal the ACA for all intents and purposes but this time as part of a bullshit “Tax Reform Bill.”
This is bad mojo for what we call the middle-class people and especially them that has families in America… 16 million will lose health coverage.
Other millions of folks will incur severe premium increases, which in turn will add up to a mass exodus of insurers from the markets.
Why? Primarily because some healthier people would gamble that their cost would be little to none and forgo insurance, meaning that the ACA marketplaces would have a larger share of people with expensive health needs. That means health care with much pricier premiums that would result in losing another inestimable millions of others because they simply could not afford the insurance.
The result will be a severely failing health care law.
Which all in all adds up to another tax cut for the rich while the middle class of we the people get extremely screwed with added life costs on very limited income.
Many of us having for shit health care insurance or not having health care at all and countless amounts of the population losing their assets… home, property, savings… to pay if they themselves or a loved family member were to get a catastrophic illness or injury.
The House vote is expected on Thursday and the Senate will be voting next week.
So, say “fuck you” … or maybe put it a nicer way… I will refuse to vote for you (whether you would have or not is beside the point.) I will not vote for you and will encourage everyone I know to also not vote for you when you next come up for election.
Or even more simply… I know what you are doing and I refuse to support the elephant party if you try to fund your tax reform for the one percent on the backs of the middle class, especially by cutting federal government support for the Affordable Care Act.
Call 202-224-3121 to call the Congressional peeps (the United States Capitol switchboard. A switchboard operator will connect you directly with the Senate office you need or want) and demand they vote “no” on any bill that repeals the Affordable Care Act that will essentially be a tax increase to the middle class and a tax cut for the bloody damn uber-rich.
The uber-rich… that if they fucking did the right thing would take a combined pittance of their wealth and make sure all those responsible for their wealth, namely we the people, were given free and unrestricted health care as part of their compensation package for their efforts.
Surprisingly, the cost of health care would probably go down dramatically… if they had to pay for our health you don’t think they would also cut costs by making sure private hospitals, big pharma , etc… cut costs to their costumers?
Who the hell do you think owns these corporations?
Making America great…
When the hell are we going to start teaching our children the truth about American history?
The truth about slavery and how it is still perpetuated throughout our society even to this day with how laws are applied unjustly…
Thee truth about how we stole this land from the Native American people and waged a war upon these people reducing them almost to obliteration and nonexistence and those left were impoverished and on land that was of little to no use in providing them anything that was of real sustainable worth.
The truth about labor… unions… and how with out unions we would not have a forty hour work week… or pay for overtime… or child labor laws and children would still be in sweatshops…
The truth about how America … hell, the world … treated women as property and all to often as sex objects. It is all too obvious many men still do if you read or hear the news today…
Just some random thoughts about America waking up and smelling the damn coffee…
And becoming great… maybe for the very first time in its existence.
Thou shalt not bear false witness…
There was a meme on Facebook not that long ago about a man who was falsely accused of rape … his name was… is… Brian Banks…
Quickly here is the skinny…
Banks was a standout high school football star at Polytechnic High School (Poly) in Long Beach, California. In 2002, his Junior year, Banks verbally committed USC. After being falsely accused of rape by a classmate, he spent more than five years in prison and five years on strict custody parole, but had his conviction overturned in 2012 after his accuser admitted she had fabricated the entire story. Following his exoneration, Banks sought to resume his football career, playing for the now defunct United Football League (UFL), attending mini-camps for several NFL teams, and later signing with the Atlanta Falcons. (Wikipedia)
It is a crime as well as unethical and immoral to bear false witness.
Plus, the then young man has lost immeasurable opportunity for wealth and fame as well as having a for shit rep for some of society. Because no matter what is eventually decided two things will exist… the first thing is that what many people hear or read will always be the truth regardless of what comes after… and second… as a result that false accusation of being a rapist… a hater of women… will always follow Mr. Banks around regardless of the truth.
How does the law truly and completely give a ruined reputation and the fact that a name will still be run roughshod through the mud of public opinion because some stupid dolts can’t think for themselves and verify what is real and what is not?
And, more lives and situations were affected than one. The families of everyone concerned… the man’s cherished loved ones and friends who had to deal with the fall out of the shit storm that followed his conviction and incarceration.
Plus… and not the least of all in any shape, way or form… the huge slap in the face to every real victim out there. It’s hard enough for women who are victims of sexual abuse to come forth because of how they are perceived by all too many of we the people… to admit they were raped and terribly and horrendously abused because of some assholes desire to wield power over them… but… now some idiot bears false witness?
That does nothing but harm to every true victim out there.
The victims of rape who remain silent because of the presumption that they too are liars because of Gibson’s… and Twana Brawley’s and Crystal Mangum’s… negation of an innocent man’s/men’s humanity.
(Banks was) Faced with a possible 41 years to life sentence, he accepted a plea deal that included five years in prison, five years of probation, and registering as a sex offender. Wanetta Gibson and her mother Wanda Rhodes sued the Long Beach Unified School District, claiming the Poly campus was not a safe environment, and won a $1.5 million settlement. According to Banks, his lawyer told him that he stood no chance at trial because he would be tried by an all-white jury who would automatically assume that he was guilty because he was “a big, black teenager.”
In March 2011, Gibson contacted Banks on Facebook, met with him, and admitted that she had fabricated the story. Banks secretly recorded Gibson’s confession, but she refused to tell prosecutors that she had lied so she wouldn’t have to return the money she and her family had won in court. Nevertheless, with Gibson’s taped admission and help from California Innocence Project attorneys, Los Angeles County prosecutors overturned Banks’ conviction on May 24, 2012.
On April 12, 2013, the Long Beach Unified School District announced it was suing Wanetta Gibson for $2 million in an effort to recoup the $1.5 million she received, along with attorney’s fees and punitive damages. On June 14, 2013, the school district won a $2.6 million judgment against Gibson, which includes the $750,000 settlement initially paid to her along with attorney’s fees, interest, and $1 million in punitive damages.
She should have had her ass thrown in jail for at least the same time Brain Banks served plus five years for the damn insult of her lies.
Banks now serves as a spokesperson for the California Innocence Project and is working on a documentary about his story.
I read the news today…
And this is one of the things I read… President Trumpty Dumpty while hosting an event for Native American code talkers at the White House on Monday said, “You’re very, very special people. You were here long before any of us were here. Although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her Pocahontas.” But you know what. I like you. Because you are special.”
Trumpty took what should have been a special and solemn occasion to honor Native American war heroes who used their native language to outwit the enemy and protect U.S. battlefield communications during battle in World Wars I and II, instead to thinly veil a continued personal attack upon Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, as Pocahontas, who has claimed to be part Cherokee.
A claim which she has so far been unable to prove definitively.
Trumpty added… “But you know what. I like you. Because you are special.”
Nice. Maybe they should thank him for the backhanded compliment which was really a racist insult to not only Warren but to the men who were in attendance supposedly being honored for their accomplishments.
Warren told the media, “It is deeply unfortunate that the President of the United States cannot even make it through a ceremony honoring these heroes without having to throw out a racial slur.”
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters at a White House press briefing later that day, that it was a “ridiculous response” to call the name a racial slur, saying it was not the “president’s intent.”
Interesting… pray tell, what was the “President’s” intent then?
Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye issued his own a statement that said, “In this day and age, all tribal nations still battle insensitive references to our people. The prejudice that Native American people face is an unfortunate historical legacy. As Native Americans, we are proud people who have taken care of this land long before there was the United States of America and we will continue to fight for this Nation.”
National Congress of American Indians President Jefferson Keel added, “We regret that the President’s use of the name Pocahontas as a slur to insult a political adversary is overshadowing the true purpose of today’s White House ceremony. We honor the contributions of Pocahontas, a hero to her people, the Pamunkey Indian Tribe in Virginia, who reached across uncertain boundaries and brought people together. Once again, we call upon the President to refrain from using her name in a way that denigrates her legacy.”
At the event Monday at the White House, three of the code talkers (out of the only thirteen who are still living) called for a museum to be built in honor of the war heroes to educate children. Trumpty said he would help them do and that “You deserve it.”
Speaking of a trail of lies… was it a sadly ironic “accident”, or a purposeful act, that the White House chose to hold the event in a room where a portrait of President Andrew Jackson was in the backdrop (see photo right) as Trumpty and the Code Talkers spoke.
Jackson is the racist and murderous fuckhead that forced thousands of Native Americans to move from the Southeast to the West. About 4,000 Cherokee (hmmm… Warren claims Cherokee blood doesn’t she?) people died during that forced march in what is known as the “Trail of Tears.”
Fuck Trump… this man… and I use that word very loosely…. I hate comparing troglodytes to human beings but … this poor excuse for a human is truly a very hateful and despicable “man.” His ability to be totally insensitive … purposefully insensitive in my mind… knows no bounds. I sincerely hope the man is impeached and goes down in flames. But. if he isn’t I hope that the many who voted for him don’t re-vote the scumbag into office again if the fucking asinine elephants have the stupidity to nominate the asshole once more in 2020.
Updated related news…
Navajo Nation council delegate Amber Kanazbah Crotty released a statement that called Trump’s remark the “latest example of systemic, deep-seated ignorance of Native Americans and our intrinsic right to exist and practice our ways of life… (and) “The intentional disregard of the historical trauma of Pocahontas as a sexual assault survivor directly resulting from colonization is disturbing.”
Pocahontas, was the daughter of a Native American chief from what is now Virginia and most of our childhood education is a very whitewashed and romanticized telling of her involvement with European colonists… that primarily she interceded on behalf of John Smith and offered her neck for his life. While more realistic tellings of her history do say Pocahontas was an integral intermediary between Native Americans and colonists in Jamestown, the tellings also relate that during the First Anglo-Powhatan War, she was at one point kidnapped and held for ransom, with some accounts saying she was raped while in captivity.
Elephant Sen. John McCain, whose father and grandfather were Navy officers in the Pacific during World War II, also added to the torrent of people calling out Trump for his truly insensitive and racist comment by saying, “Our nation owes a debt of gratitude to the Navajo Code Talkers, whose bravery, skill & tenacity helped secure our decisive victory over tyranny & oppression during WWII. Politicizing these genuine American heroes is an insult to their sacrifice.”
And while we are at it…
Let’s stop giving the lying Trumpty Dumpty a goddamn pass on his sexist and hateful comments he made back when he totally objectified women and said they were nothing but pussy on the hook ready and willing to be had just because a “man” (male?) has power and so-called prestige.
The scum is backing that dickwad down in that special Georgia Senate election … OK, not officially but with way he is trying to make the other guy in that Atlanta race out to be some “piss poor un-American liberal” who is soft on crime… who by the way was the guy who finally brought two of the racist KKK assess who murdered four children when they racistly bombed a Birmingham church back in 1963.
In an op-ed piece, not that long ago in the New York Daily News, Mike Lupica wrote…
Here was the President saying that (Doug) Jones is soft on crime and guns and borders and everything except, well, accused pedophiles and, oh by the way, also a stooge for Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi. As always, you don’t even know where to start as you begin to deconstruct all of this. But one place to start might be with Jones’ successful prosecution, when he was the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama, of two Ku Klux Klan members linked to the 1963 bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham that left four African-American children dead.
The facts of that cold case, even in a political world where facts seem to matter less and less, are not just stubborn. They are immutable, in Alabama and everywhere else.
This is from a piece Jones wrote for the Huffington Post back in September, looking back on his prosecution of those KKK members nearly 20 years earlier:
“Sadly, the pattern of violence as a response to hope has reasserted itself. We saw it in the Charleston church massacre in 2015. We saw it on display in Charlottesville this past August. We’ve seen it in the attacks on mosques and synagogues, and against the LGBT community. We see it in the hostility toward the Latino community. We cannot sweep this violence under the rug. We must address the forces that lead to it and prosecute those who perpetrate such acts.”
But he’s the guy in that Senate race who is supposed to be soft on crime.
And the elephants in Congress are no better.
The dour faced dunce who goes by the name Sen. Mitch McConnell has told reporters that said Trumpty called him when he was on his recent Asian tour to talk about Roy Moore. McConnell reiterated to reporters that Moore should step aside and said that he is not fit to serve in Senate.
When McConnell was also asked if he believes Trumpty’s accusers the same way he believes Roy Moore’s accusers, he said, “Look, we’re talking about the situation in Alabama. And I’d be happy to address that if there are any further questions.”
Those reporter’s question are very germane to the conversation.
If, we are to begin investigating, validating and believing claims… including Congressional actions of possible rebuke and censure as well as maybe removal from office or impeachment… of bringing up every damn politician who has been accused of sexual improprieties, as well as many other public and famous figures, then we need to lead that list with Trumpty’s admitted to remarks.
Remarks that Trumpty has called into question as fake news from two New York Times’ reported conversations he had had with a senator, and most recently a White House adviser.
And, now more than a year later, during a short and not so sweet White House press briefing, Sarah Huckabee Sanders repeatedly evaded direct questions on whether her boss believes the tape was faked. She instead a finally said, “I think if anything that the President questions, it’s the media’s reporting on that accuracy.”
Sanders neglected to go into detail on how the media’s reporting was inaccurate but simply said instead that Trumpty’s election victory validated the need to drop the topic.
And to be clear, Access Hollywood Hosts Natalie Morales and Kit Hoover have challenged Trumpty’s and Huckabee’s bullshit attempts to cast doubt on the infamous tape of him spewing vulgar language to say sexual assault was okay, especially if you are rich and powerful.
Morales said during the latest episode last Monday night.: “Let us make this perfectly clear, the tape is very real,”
To refresh anyone’s’ faulty memory… The recording revealed Trumpty bragging about using wealth and fame status to grab women in a sexually abusive manner.
Trumpty told then-Access Hollywood host Billy Bush, on live tape, “When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. “Grab ’em by the pussy.”
Hoover also says his and his press secretary’s attempts to cast the tape as false news contradicts his apology and “locker room talk” defense he issued hours after the damning footage surfaced in October… just weeks before the presidential election.
Let’s make this clear… he said it… he admitted it… he should be made to pay for it just like any other political or public figure. The prez is not exempt from the rules of law. Especially, when he admits he committed a felony.
As Richard Cohen, a syndicated columnist for the Washington Post who had a New York Daily News op-ed that concluded on Tuesday, “… the people who supported Trump and now the ones who say nothing. Moral principle has been replaced by political cowardice. This is our darkest hour.” http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/president-trump-darkest-hour-article-1.3660937
Impeach the son of a bitch!
Yes, Virginia (or Maryland) there just may be a sanity clause…
But in a case of maybe some sanity being introduced to the gun disusion…
From the AP…
The Supreme Court has turned away an appeal from Maryland gun owners who challenged the state’s assault weapons ban.
The justices left in place a federal appeals court ruling that upheld the Maryland law that does not permit the sale of a range of semiautomatic weapons and large-capacity magazines. The banned guns include those that were used in recent mass shootings in a south Texas church and at an outdoor concert in Las Vegas.
The high court has not re-entered the debate over guns since rulings in 2008 and 2010 that held that Americans have a constitutional right to have guns for self-defense in their homes and that local governments could not ban handguns.
The justices also declined an appeal asserting a constitutional right to carry firearms openly in public.
Perchance to dream? That maybe a real discussion and laws being enacted regarding guns in america may be possible?
Another thousand words…
