Lets keep in mind that this is not a full breakdown of everything GOT, but more a primer of what has happened and what you need to know moving forward. (Example, the whole Drago storyline and Viserys? Not really needed since that’s a dead thread and everyone involved is dead.)
There are also a ton of minor players who will get their treatment.
Again, keep in mind, David has read the books, and Earl just read them waiting for Season Seven, and don’t be that asshole that spoils the series for no reason but evil glee. What the hell is wrong with you? So if we miss something IN THE SHOW, by all means let us know.
Gendry was just another kid in Flea Bottom, a poor section of King’s Landing, grew up in the slums as a blacksmith, and had a good degree of talent, then Ned Stark showed up asking about his parents, soon he is being sent to the Wall to get him out of time, he meets up with a disguised Arya Stark, and escapes being killed by the Kingsguard, the bodyguards of the King. After some adventures he meets up with Melisandre, who tells him that King Robert Baratheon was his father, and he has Kings Blood in his veins. Melisandre uses some of that blood to cast some magic, and when Ser Davos finds out that Melisandre is going to kill the boy to get some serious magic going, he set Gendry free, earning Davos a death sentence. Last we saw Gendry, he was trying to row himself home.
David: Earl HATES Gendry. I love the character, would be nice to see him again, and he was on the cast list for season 6 and now for season 7. I still think he’s too valuable a character to waste on a rowboat. Plus how many males are actually GOOD GUYS. I still think Arya and Gendry end up in Winterfell.
Hot Pie is one of those characters what just seems to show up at fun times. He first showed up with Arya, trying to be a badass, but Arya beats his ass. Later they are taken as prisoners to Harrenhal, and Hot Pie is put in the kitchens and finds he as some skill there. After escaping, they are captured again by the Brotherhood without boarders, but Hot Pie has had enough adventuring, and stays at one of the roadside Inns. Much Later, Brienne and Podrick show up at the Inn and Hot Pie tells them that Arya is still alive, but is more than happy to stay where he is, but might pop up again.
David: Hot pie is fun.
Again, he is on the list for this year, but he always bounces around. I don’t expect him to mean anything when he does show up, but wouldn’t it be awesome if he was the one that baked Walder Frey’s kids into his pie?
The younger brother of Catelyn Stark, Edmure and the Tullys are a strong house, but tied to the Starks and joined them in Robb’s Rebellion. With Robb in love and married, Edmure stepped into the void to try and patch things up with Walder Frey, and marry one of his daughters. When he was carried off to the bedding ceremony, the rest of the Starks were killed. Edmure is currently imprisoned by Walder Frey to keep the Tullys from marching on the Freys. When The Blackfish retakes Riverrun, Edmure is taken there to try and get the Tullys to surrender. Edmure gives the order, but is ignored, and the castle has to be retaken by force by the Freys under Jamie Lannister.
David: Useless as a commander, to be honest, and I do understand how he allowed himself to be used by Jamie Lannister. Get the feeling the last generation just had more bad-asses than this one? The Blackfish didn’t give a damn, and Edmure was almost brought to tears.
The Iron Throne is in debt to the Iron Bank, who, like the mob, have all kinds of money, but also like the mob, you don’t want to get past due on the payments. After giving some money to Stannis to try and get their money back (after Littlefinger and Tyrion leave, the Master of Coin isn’t exactly being run by EF Hutton) Mace Tyrell is sent to Braavos to try and rework the deal. We are not shown what happened, by Mace did return to Westeros in Season Six.
David: Again, this is the Mob. The Iron Throne under the Baratheon name owes it some serious cash. Don’t think that they will not be coming for that coin. The other dude we saw from the bank wasn’t on the cast list only he was, so I get the feeling that Tycho shows up as an advisor. Maybe with Littlefinger’s name on a loan.
