Game of Thrones S7 Preview: Cersei Lannister

Lets keep in mind that this is not a full breakdown of everything GOT, but more a primer of what has happened and what you need to know moving forward. (Example, the whole Drago storyline and Viserys? Not really needed since that’s a dead thread and everyone involved is dead.)
There are also a ton of minor players who will get their treatment.
Again, keep in mind, David has read the books, and Earl just read them waiting for Season Seven, and don’t be that asshole that spoils the series for no reason but evil glee. What the hell is wrong with you? So if we miss something IN THE SHOW, by all means let us know.

Cersei Lannister

Cersei Lannister is the wife of King Robert, and the mother of Kings Joffery and Tommen.   Cersei has hated Robert since he called out another woman’s name on thier wedding night. The children are all from Cersei’s twin brother Jamie, whom she has carried on a relationship with for years. Cersei may have started all this by having Robert killed before he found out the truth about their children, but we are not sure, but Lancel talked as if she had a hand in it. Cersei was told by Maggie the Frog, a witch, that she would see all 3 of her children die, and she has buried them all.  Cersei has always hated her brother Tyrion, blaming him for her mother’s death in childbirth, and placed a bounty on his head as she thinks he killed Joffery. Cersei tries to act as Hand of the King for her son, King Tommen, but is met with mixed results and she allows the Faith Militant to arm themselves, and also allows them to arrest Loras and Queen Margaery and only halfheartedly follows her son Tommens order to get the Queen freed. Even worse, when Cersei is leaving, she is stopped and arrested, as Lancel Lannister has confessed their incestuous relationship while Jamie was away. Cersei is kept in the dungeon for some time, before confessing her sins with Lancel, and the High Sparrow allows her to return home until the trial. Cersei completes the Walk of Shame from the Faith Militant’s headquarters to the Red Keep, naked while Septa Unella rang a bell calling out “Shame” during the route. When she arrives at the Keep, she’s covered in filth from the crowd and her feet are bleeding. Only Qyburn shows her any compassion as he covers her in his robe and has the Mountain carry her off. Her plan of having a Trail by Combat against the Faith Millitant isn’t going to work as King Tommen abolishes the practice. Cersei turns to Qyburn, who finds the rest of the Wildfire that Tyrion didn’t use during the Battle of Blackwater Bay. She uses the Wildfire to destroy the Great Sept of Baelor, killing:
Queen Margaery, Loras, and Mace of House Tyrell,
Kevan and Lancel Lannister
The High Sparrow and the entire Faith Militant
and also has Grand Maester Pycelle killed as a favor to Qyburn, whom she names as Hand of the Queen.

Qyburn

He used to be a Maester somewhere, but was thrown out of the – , well, I guess we could call it a Guild, for medical experiments that went against the order. He was brought in to save Jamie Lannister after he had his hand cut off, and this brought him with Jamie to Kings Landing. He did such a good job of staving off infection Cersei asked him to take a look at the Mountain after his duel with Oberlyn Martel. He does save the Mountain’s life, but it’s changed the Mountain to an unknown degree. In gratitude, Cersi had Qyburn named the new Master of Whispers on the small council. When Cersei is put into prison by the Faith Millitant, Qyburn is the only one who goes to visit her, showing her just how few feinds she has. Qyburn is also the sole person to cover Cersei when she arrives at the Red Keep after her Walk of Atonement. After the explosion of the Great Sept, Queen Cersei makes Qyburn her Hand of the Queen.

Gregor Clegane

The Mountain the Rides. The older Clegane brother is a rough and evil sumbitch. The only people that we have heard of ever being able to stand up to him is his younger brother, Sandor Clegane, The Hound, and Oberyn Martell, who was beating him in a duel until he made a mistake and Martell’s head was popped like a grape. The Mountain is just downright evil, having been the one that killed Elia Martell and her Children during Robert’s Rebellion. Oberyn was able to wound the Mountain with poison, and when Maester Pycelle could do nothing, Cersei turned to Qyburn to save him, he did, as the Mountain is back up and going, but Qyburn says that the Mountain has taken a vow of silence and joined the Kingsguard, and serves as Cersei’s primary bodyguard. Season Six shows that he is still a deadly warrior.
