Game of Thrones S7 Primer: The Hound and Brotherhood

Lets keep in mind that this is not a full breakdown of everything GOT, but more a primer of what has happened and what you need to know moving forward. (Example, the whole Drago storyline and Viserys? Not really needed since that’s a dead thread and everyone involved is dead.)
There are also a ton of minor players who will get their treatment.
Again, keep in mind, David has read the books, and Earl just read them waiting for Season Seven, and don’t be that asshole that spoils the series for no reason but evil glee. What the hell is wrong with you? So if we miss something IN THE SHOW, by all means let us know.

Sandor Clegane

Nicknamed the Hound, he is younger brother of Ser Gregor Clegane, who tortured him and burned the right side of his face. Started out as a force for the Lannisters. He saved Sansa from being raped. He is made part of the Kings Guard. He has a bit of an honor code, and protected Sansa even after her fall, and offered to help her escape from Kings Landing. He gets captured, but escapes taking Arya with her, wanting to sell her to her family. His first option is to sell her to her brother, but after the Red Wedding, instead of selling her to the Freys, he leaves town. When word reaches the pair that Arya’s aunt Lysa Arryn is dead, the Hound decides to head North to avoid the coming war. Meeting Brieene and Podrick, they battle over Arya. Brieene wins the fight, tossing him over a cliff, but he lives. Arya finds him, having slipped away during the fight. He begs her to kills him, but she only robs him. Season Six shows him arriving at a pacifist colony, lead by Ian McShane and finds some peace and slight happiness. Returning one day, he finds the colony slaughtered by the Brotherhood without Banners. He goes to find them, and discovers Beric and Thoros already killing them. He joins them in heading North to battle the White Walkers.

Thoros of Myr

A Red Priest who follows the Lord of Light, just like Melisandre. He was sent to King’s Landing to try and convert them to the Lord Light, but became corrupted and a drunk. Then joined the Brotherhood Without Banners. He has raised Richard Dormer from the dead 6 times. Melisandre did read him the riot act when they met up and he seemed to respond. Some members of the Brotherhood went rouge and slaughtered a village, prompting Sandor Clegane to hunt them down, but Thoros and Beric got to them first. They are now moving North, since they have decided they have to pick a side in the coming war.

Beric Dondarrion

Famous warrior who weilds a flaming sword, he leads the Brotherhood without Banners. He has been killed several times, but always brought back by Thoros, at the cost of some of his memories. He enters our story having captured Arya and the Hound, on the run from the Lannisters. The Hound wins a trial by combat, killing Beric, who is brought back by Thoros for the sixth time. Much later, some members of the Brotherhood went rouge and slaughtered a village, prompting Sandor Clegane to hunt them down, but Thoros and Beric got to them first. They are now moving North, since they have decided they have to pick a side in the coming war.
