Here at 7poundbag, we love the draft. We love arguing picks, we love the wish-lists, and we love looking back and bragging on how we did. The hardest two parts of any draft predictions, are: 1) the trades, and 2) all it takes is one idiot to blow it up
So three writers split up the NFL, and made our picks, plus gave our opinion on if we would trade the pick.
1. Cleveland Browns – Chad
Pick: Myles Garrett – DT – Texas A&M He’s been at the top board through the entire process and I feel he can be a gamechanger on Defense
You trading? (Scale of 1-10, 10 being I’m getting rid of it, 1 being not for anything short of Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Peterson and the Hoodie) 2- Would have to be near top of draft to pull trigger or picks for Jimmy G from NE.
2. San Francisco – Chad Pick: Solomon Thomas – DE – Stanford
Quality football player that can help you on Defense; don’t need to reach for a QB here. Trading? 1
3. Chicago Bears – Dan Pick: Jonathan Allen – DT – Alabama
With the signing of Mike Glennon there’s no need to select a quarterback here. The Bears need help all over the board but defense is a big need and he’s the best DL available (arguably the best defensive player available). No reason the Bears pass up on him. Trading? No
4. Jacksonville Jaguars – David Pick: Jamal Adams – S – LSU
The Jags are tired of getting up early on Round 1, and have been spending some serious money on defense. Jamal Adams is 6-foot, 214-pounds of quickness. In a spot where Andrew Luck and Mariotta are going to play the next decade, plus a possible Romo- you can’t help but get better in the secondary if you want to compete. Trading? 8, Make me an offer. I can drop to 8 or 9 and get contributors.
5. Tennessee Titans (From Rams) – David Pick: Marlon Humphrey – CB – Alabama
Could be a true number one corner, he’s 6 foot and again, like the Jags I’m looking at the other QBs in the division. The Titans added Cyprien at S, this gives him a partner on that side of the field. Trading? 4, someone might want to jump to get ahead of the Jets.
6. New York Jets– Dan Pick: Marshon Lattimore – CB – Ohio State
This is a rebuilding year for the Jets. They need a replacement for Revis and he should fill that role perfectly. They are entering rebuild mode and besides getting a QB later, they should worry about solidifying the D especially since they’re in a division with Brady & Tannehill. I could also see them going Fournette here. Trading?
Exception: I can see them trading the pick for a bunch of picks next year. They need to get a pretty decent size return. They’re in rebuild mode so it has to heavily favor them or they won’t move. In this draft, a lot of teams don’t want to move up due to the deep classes of the secondary and RB.
7. Los Angeles Chargers– Dan Pick: Mike Williams – WR – Clemson
They need a true number one WR for Rivers and it needs to happen now. They could go with Malik Hooker here to complement Casey Heyward in the secondary but they need a WR complement right now or they’ll waste Rivers’ tenure with San Diego and that’s the last thing they want. Trading: No
8. Carolina Panthers – David Pick: O.J. Howard – TE – Alabama
I have a major problem here with taking Malik Hooker or OJ Howard. Either one would be a solid addition at a need position. Hooker having two surgeries kind of seals the deal as I get Howard as a consolation price. Howard is 6’5 and can RUN. He’s not a great blocker, but he’s decent, and with Greg Olsen training him, this should be the safety blanket Cam needs for the rest of his career. Trading: Up? None. Down? I can see it. Give me a couple picks and I can get Dalvin Cook (Who I like more than Fournette as a Panthers Fan) or Hooker. 5
9. Cincinnati Bengals – Chad Pick: Reuben Foster – LB – Alabama
LB is a position the Bengals need help in and with somebody like Foster working with Vontaze Burfict in Nickel Situations i Think helps the Bengals Trading? 4- Trading Up I don’t see but Trading down to maybe get an extra pick I could see as the team has many positions that need attention through the draft.
10. Buffalo Bills– Dan Pick: Corey Davis – WR – Western Michigan
They’re really interested in Mike Williams but since he’s gone as well as Marlon Humphrey, the next best option is Corey Davis. They need another WR to not only help out when Sammy Watkins is on the field, but also to cover him when he gets injured since it occurs every season. Corey Davis is the next best thing after Mike Williams and while he played for a smaller school, he’s one of the best receivers in the nation and will help Tyrod Taylor out a lot. If he’s gone, which I doubt it, they could also go with Tre’Davious White out of LSU to replace their top CB they lost in free agency. Trading? Not unless they get an offer they can’t pass up. There is going to be players of huge need for Buffalo at this spot and even though the secondary class is extremely deep, they need to go ahead and grab what they can at this spot.
