NFL Week 11 Picks

Welcome to the week 11 picks, we had a bit of a rough patch, but who saw some of those games coming? We all got Baltimore, Dallas and Arizona, but bricked on Green Bay, Atlanta, and New England. This weeks game of the week is the Monday Night game, and Dan has his pick in.

Houston vs Oakland

This is a good match-up for Monday night. Oakland is hot right now and well-rested coming off of a bye week to try and get 100% healthy again. They’re also coming off of a big win, at home, against Denver. Oakland also is tied for the AFC West division title in a very close divisional race with Kansas City. They’re firing on all cylinders with Derek Carr looking like a top quarterback in the league, the defense playing stellar and the running game is almost unstoppable at this point with Murray as evidence by the three touchdowns against a great defense in Denver.

Houston is trying to stay atop the AFC South after both Indianapolis and Tennessee beat Green Bay handily and look like they’re both making pushes up to the top. Houston is coming off a tight win over Jacksonville and they’ll be looking to try to lock down the Oakland offense. It’s a home game for the Raiders, but the Texans boast a very talented defense (even with Watt not playing due to injury) that can shut down Derek Carr. They should watch out for Murray but I don’t foresee too many problems there, either.

Both teams are good, albeit one better than the other, but I expect this to be a close Monday Night Football game. I have Oakland pulling out the win 23-17. I don’t think they’re score all that much, but the Texans’ defense has shown holes in it against opponents and I feel like Derek Carr will exploit some of them but they’ll have multiple stops near red zone or in the red zone which will force field goals. I think Houston can win this game as long as their offense moves and they find rhythm on the field. If they can’t get their offense going, they’ll be stuck with 17, or less. I feel like it’s critical for Houston, if they want to win, to keep the ball moving on the ground and let Osweiler grab a touchdown with over 200 yards to win. This game can get out of control if Houston lets it, but I think they’ll keep it close. (by Dan)
