Lies, Truth & Hillary… WTF 4/13

one percent

Truth what is it good for? Sometimes not a lot it seems if you are in politics… lies, truth and Hillary…. interesting topic of conversation and one I am devoting a large part of today’s column. I would have said Sex, Lies and Hillary but as far as I know there is only one instance of her ever having sex, so, I’ll that alone. Besides that would have taken us down a thorny path I prefer to leave alone… not to mention the possible lawsuits…

But, maybe it’s time for a little truth in what is being said as the primary season begins to narrow itself down…

This week WTF presents some truth, lies and consequences…

The truth will set her free… maybe…

joe1Ya know there’s this big brouhaha about something that Bernie… that’s Bernie as in Sanders in case some of ya’ll been hiding on the dark side of the moon… anyways… that Bernie said about guns and supposedly about victims of senseless gun violence… which is he didn’t think that people like those folks in Newtown, who had their children and neighbors and teachers murdered by some lunatic with an AR15, should be able to sue the gun manufacturer.

Now, everybody in an uproar… they all calling for Bernie’s head.bernie-sandy-hook-shame

Let me tell ya’ll… he wasn’t misquoted but he sure as hell was misrepresented… I understand… not necessarily agree with him… but… I understand where he’s is coming from.  And, I think he is being blatantly and purposefully being misrepresented on what he said and what his position on guns is.

Here’s what he told the New York Daily News when he was asked about that issue… suing gun manufacturers… you be the damn judge of what he damn well said…

(Note: All underlined sections are mine and for emphasis.)

Sanders: Nobody can guarantee that some lunatic is not going to pick up a gun today and kill people. But we have to do the best that we can to prevent those types of killings. And what we do, in my view, is significantly strengthen and expand the instant background check. What we do is do away with the gun show loophole, where people now are buying guns from unlicensed dealers. What we do is do away with the straw man provision, where you can buy a gun legally and then sell it to somebody who’s a criminal. I think what we also is significantly expand mental health capabilities to try to address the fact that we have thousands of people walking in this country today who are suicidal and homicidal. So I support pretty much the President’s agenda.

Do I think the victims of a crime with a gun should be able to sue the manufacturer, is that your question?

Daily News: Correct.

Sanders: No, I don’t.

Daily News: Let me ask you. I know we’re short on time. Two quick questions. Your website talks about…

Sanders: No, let me just…I’m sorry. In the same sense that if you’re a gun dealer and you sell me a gun and I go out and I kill him [gestures to someone in room]…. Do I think that that gun dealer should be sued for selling me a legal product that he misused? [Shakes head no.] But I do believe that gun manufacturers and gun dealers should be able to be sued when they should know that guns are going into the hands of wrong people.

So, if somebody walks in and says, “I’d like 10,000 rounds of ammunition,” you know, well, you might be suspicious about that. So I think there are grounds for those suits, but not if you sell me a legal product. But you’re really saying…

Now this next part is very important, so pay the hell attention!

Daily News: Do you think that the discussion and debate about what defines a legal product, what should be a legal product, hence AR-15s, these automatic military-style weapons…which is the grounds of this suit at the moment is that this should have never been in the hands of the public.

Sanders: Well, you’re looking at a guy…let’s talk about guns for one second. Let’s set the record straight because of…unnamed candidates who have misrepresented my views. You’re looking at a guy who has a D, what was it, D minus voting record from the NRA? Not exactly a lobbyist for the NRA, not exactly supporting them.

But it’s interesting that you raised that question. If, you’ll remember this, if, you were in Vermont in 1988 [gestures to Vermonter in the room], three people were running for the United States Congress. We have one seat, Vermont. Two of them supported assault weapons. One candidate, Bernie Sanders, said, in 1988, “No, I do not support the sale and distribution of assault weapons in this country.” I lost that election by three points. Came in second. And that may have been the reason, that I was opposed by all of the gun people, okay? So, to answer your question, I do not believe, I didn’t believe then and I don’t believe now that those guns should be sold in America. They’re designed for killing people.

Daily News: So do you think then, with that in mind, that the merits of the current case are baseless?

Sanders: It’s not baseless. I wouldn’t use that word. But it’s a backdoor way. If you’re questioning me, will I vote to ban assault weapons in the United States, yeah, I will.

Take one phrase out of context and present it as he is against those poor folks in Newtown… many who are still searching for a way to deal with their heart break… and that, friends, is reprehensible… morally and ethically so. Hell… it’s flat out fucking wrong… very, very, very wrong.

Hillary… and… all you gun control peeps! (Yeah, in my own way I’m a gun control freak, too. But, I ain’t insane about it! I got no problem with folks who legally and responsibly have guns.) Tell the damn truth and don’t just  jump all over a dude because of one phrase that looks like shit when that’s all that’s presented for public perusal…

When one of them folks from Newtown says “It was insensitive. He doesn’t know the pain my family has been going through since December 14, 2102.”sandy hook

Yeah, that person is right… no one can ever know that pain. We can empathize; we can feel similar pain…  maybe some of us have even lost a loved one to gun violence… but no one knows what pain is in your heart… no one is in your skin and bones and knows how cold the feeling is in your heart.

But… and I say this with all respect and sensitivity that is due… but, did ya’ll read all the words he… Bernie… said?

When Representative Elizabeth Esty…  a donkey… and… Representative  Carolyn McCarthy and Senator Chris Murphy (two more donkeys) all say essentially the same damn things that the Newtown person says … (and by the by, these donkey politicians just happen to be Hillary supporters)… that Bernie is wrong; he doesn’t know what he is talking about… I gotta tell ya’ll… frankly, they’re the  ones who are fucking wrong and are misrepresenting his slant on what we should do about gun violence.

Ya’ll want the truth? The truth… the brass tacks… the reality of the situation… which is… he is saying that if it is fucking legal to sell a particular weapon to anyone who passes muster, who should be allowed to buy that weapon… (That lunatic who did the Newtown murders? His mother brought that weapon, she actually brought many weapons and had them in her house where he could get at any of the weapons, including the AR15.)… then folks should not be allowed to sue the manufacturers if it used in any killings. Unless… some other form of negligence can be proved… I’ll get back to this…

And… ya wanna know some more truth…  I agree…

If, some folks wanna change the law by suing the gun manufacturers and, if, by throwing it in front of a court makes for a beginning to change the laws governing guns and gun controls… laws that are presntly mostly very, very, very, very wrong… then that might not be the worst thing… and… Bernie even says that himself. Go read the transcript.  But, it is the law that allows the makers of these guns to sell these weapons to anyone that they please… to we the people… any schmo on the street. It’s because of the lax gun control laws that we have in this country that these guns are out there.  Go sue Congress… the fucking politicians who don’t have the balls/cherries to do the right thing, which, in my opinion, is to shut down the manufacturing of weapons that have no purpose but to perpetrate mass murder at will.

No one needs an assault weapon… no… one… in… this… society… no fucking one!

Make it illegal to sell or possess these weapons and then maybe there might be a lot less mass murders. It won’t end them all but maybe there would be a lot less if some asshole nutcases couldn’t easily get their fucking fingers on the weapons from the get go.

There has also been a lot of noise about Bernie voting for a law that some say blocked a deal by the government that was afoot which would have changed  the way gun manufactures do business n this country… these same people also say the deal would have gone a long way to preventing a lot of gun violence.

In a nutshell…

Back during the days when Wee Willie Clinton was the prez, Andrew Cuomo was the HUD Secretary… yeah, the same dude who is presently the governor of NY… and… he had already gotten gun maker Smith & Wesson to sign on to reforms that would add safety features to the weapons they made as well as develop a way to track the weapons once they left the shop and went to gun dealers.

And… that I think would have been a good thing to get done…

He was about to get other gun makes to follow suit… notably Glock… when the NRA and George W. Bush, then a candidate for President, made the deal a hellzapoppin campaign issue. Bush said he wanted immunity for gun makers… that they couldn’t be sued… which had the end result of taking away the leverage the government was using to push agreements where manufacturers would add the aforementioned safety features and methods to keep better track of their weapons.

After Bush was elected, then-Rep. Sanders supported the law, as he had an earlier 1999 version.

And here’s where I disagree with Bernie… kinda… one more time.. hold that thought…

But… now… during this here 2016 primary season this here law that got passed under Bush… which by the by was called the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA)… is a big time issue once again…

And, how it’s being used is a crying and a lying shame…bernie-sanders-hillary-clinton-

Hillary is saying that she would repeal the law if elected and that, “They are the only business in America that is wholly protected from any kind of liability. They can sell a gun to someone they know they shouldn’t, and they won’t be sued. There will be no consequences.”

That’s not true… in fact…  both Politifact and NPR both rated the statement false and said that other businesses and entities in America have similar or greater levels of protection against liability and that firearms dealers and manufacturers are still susceptible to lawsuits and liability.  And… hold that thought… (Yeah, yeah, yeah…. chill already… it’s just one more thought.)

Bernie… who again voted for the law… has said… “If somebody has a gun and it falls into the hands of a murderer and the murderer kills somebody with a gun, do you hold the gun manufacturer responsible? Not any more than you would hold a hammer company responsible if somebody beats somebody over the head with a hammer. That is not what a lawsuit should be about.”

(Not to mention… that the person who brought the gun and the person who ultimately uses the gun in mass murders aren’t the same person and often times can be many times removed from one another.)

He doesn’t object to suing gun makers… he just disagrees with suing gun makers without the proper reasons…

The law does protect the gun makers from being held liable when crimes have been committed with their products… and that’s the issue Bernie is objecting to and why he voted for the law… HOWEVER

Remember that thought you was holding? It’s time to bring it back up front in your brain again…

… gun makers AND dealers can still be sued for damages… people being maimed and murdered by weapons… because of…

Ready, Freddy?

… defective products, breach of contract, criminal misconduct and other actions for which they are directly responsible in much the same manner that any other U.S. based manufacturer of any product sold to the public is held reasonably responsible. AND, the gun makers and the dealers may also be sued for negligence if they have reason to know a gun is intended for use in a crime or even suspicious that criminal activity could be done… especially in these critical and crazy times.

Jonathan Lowy, an attorney at the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence who has worked on a major cases regarding guns, says, “The idea he’s getting at is, if all you did is make or sell a product that’s used in a crime, you shouldn’t be liable. And he’s exactly right.”

Lowry adds, “But, the lawsuits that I was involved in aren’t premised on that theory. Our theory is that the gun companies did something wrong: They didn’t use reasonable care.”

And… as far as the stuff I’ve seen Bernie saying… then, go the fuck ahead and sue their ever loving mutherfucking asses off!sanders gun

One more time… if… what Lowry is saying is that the reason why he and his organization… or anyone else such as them folks in Newtown… are suing gun manufacturers is due to negligence then do it because that’s your right to sue any SOB based upon that criteria or any of the other criteria already mentioned.

A last word before I leave this issue… the damn NYDN publisher, and, by extension his editorial staff, as well as a dude I admire greatly… editorial cartoonist Bill Bramhall… as well as NYDN writer Mike Lupica (the dude sometimes gives liberals a bad name)… they should be ashamed of themselves for perpetrating the false and wrongful idea that Bernie is hating on the folks in Newtown or any other folks who want to take the gun manufacturers and the dealers to the woodshed for being negligent in how guns are supplied to the public. He objects to suing gun manufacturers purely based on the fact they are selling a legal product that was used to do a criminal act…

My argument with Bernie is that he didn’t do enough to change the law so those rights of the gun manufactures were protected but that the other rules that were being created for better safety features on guns and developing a way for the tracking of guns were also protected and/or created.

He didn’t do enough, and frankly, he still isn’t doing enough, in trying to make sure that gun makers are held to a higher and proper standard in how guns are made and how they are sold… and… in making sure a rational and reasonable tracking system is put into place in this country…

Frankly… Bernie should shit or get off the pot when it comes to the gun issues…

But… if, someone wants to criticize Bernie about his stance on the issue of gun control in America, then,  do it with the truth and not falsifications and misdirections and innuendo.

Have some cherries, or balls, and say what ya mean and mean what ya say…

Or… is the truth something that some people ain’t so friendly with?

Hand full of gimme…

I am not a big fan of elephant politics… not really big news to regular readers of WTF… but… I will give credit where credit is due, and, if, an elephant does something I think is good or righteous, I’ll say so. No… this is not one of them occasions… just letting ya’ll know I don’t just go around hating on the elephants just because they be elephants.

That said… there is one elephant that can really rankle a nerve or two when I hear the latest thing he might be saying… and… no, it ain’t the Trumpster, it’s the other guy… Teddy Boy Cruz…

drop dead tedNot that long ago, the Teddy Boy really pissed of a lot of folks from the City That Never Sleeps… NYC… when he said that, “….  there are many, many wonderful, wonderful working men and women in the state of New York, but everyone understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal or pro-abortion or pro- gay-marriage, (and  they) focus around money and the media.”

Even the Trumpster wouldn’t go around dissing the folks of NYC… well he shouldn’t since he claims to hail from there… but… even he ain’t dumbass.

A long time ago there a wonderful movie that was made called Casablanca with many wonderful actors in it… it’s a classic… if, ya never saw it ya really should try and see it. In a nutshell IMBd says … “In Casablanca, Morocco during the early days of World War II, an American expatriate meets a former lover, with unforeseen complications…” which by the by is putting it mildly…

The website also says… “In the early years of World War II, December 1941, the Moroccan coastal city of Casablanca attracts people from all over the world, particularly Nazi-occupied Europe. Many are transients trying to get out of Europe; a few are just trying to make a buck. Most of them — gamblers and refugees, Nazis, resistance fighters, and plain old crooks — find their way to Rick’s Café Américain, a swank nightclub owned by American expatriate Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart). Though we learn later that Rick once harbored enough idealism to put himself at risk to fight fascism, he’s now embittered and cynical, professing to be neutral and detached: “I stick my neck out for nobody.”

Anyway, without going much more into it, suffice it to say Rick don’t like the Nazis no way, no how but by the same token ain’t stupid enough to go around pissing them off either by sticking his neck or nose where it don’t belong so that his ass won’t get scrunched in a Gestapo vise…

When he is introduced to a newly arrived Gestapo Major he has the following conversation with him inside the Américain…

Major Strasser (l) & Rick (c)...
Major Strasser (l) & Rick (c)…

Major Strasser: What is your nationality? Rick: I’m a drunkard.

Captain Renault: And that makes Rick a citizen of the world.

Rick: I was born in New York City if that’ll help you any.

Strasser: I understand that you came here from Paris at the time of the occupation.

Rick: Well, there seems to be no secret about that.

Strasser: Are you one of those people who cannot imagine the Germans in their beloved Paris?

Rick: It’s not particularly my beloved Paris.

Nazi officer: Can you imagine us in London?

Rick: When you get there, ask me!

Renault: Hmmh! Diplomatist!

Strasser: How about New York?

Rick: Well there are certain sections of New York, Major, that I wouldn’t advise you to try to invade.

Cruz should have paid attention to that scene, and, if he never saw the damn movie; he should have seen it and then paid strict attention to that scene in particular…

Because, now, there is this thing called the elephant primary in NY state and NY city is an important part of that primary… for votes and for money… And here comes old Teddy Boy with a hand full of gimme and a mouth full of much obliged… but…

New Yorkers, along with your hometown news rag… the NY Daily News… are giving Teddy Boy the middle finger salute… as in “Fuck you, Ted!”Ted Cruz FU

The News had a front page that blatantly said… “Take the FU Train, Ted!”

NYC Mayor de Blasio chimed in and said, “A lot of New Yorkers are feeling that today,” de Blasio said on CNN when he was shown the Daily News front page on the Republican candidate’s rocky visit to the Bronx, which read “Take the FU Train, Ted! I would not say it in those particular words… The Daily News, I think, they call it like they see it. They’re not a particularly partisan paper. But, I think they’re representing the fact that the hypocrisy of Ted Cruz is pretty clear here. And we don’t take kindly to it.”

Cruzan for a Bruisin’ went into the Bronx and essentially got his ass handed to him backed with a lot of Bronx cheers…

NYC Mayor de Blasio also said, “Guess what, the New York primary’s suddenly a lot more important than Ted Cruz might have imagined, and now he’ll pay the price for it. At this moment in world history where there’s so much conflict over faith and differences, we’re a place where people actually manage to work together. Those are New York values, and we’re proud of that fact. And, don’t come into our home state and put us down. It’s just not going to work… He wants New York’s money, but he’s happy to put down the people of New York when he thinks it’s politically convenient.”

Particularly, he was scheduled to go to the Bronx Lighthouse College Preparatory Academy to speak and found out his bullshit don’t fly as a bunch of the students there said hell, no, he won’t come…

One 16-year-old student said, “”We told (the principal)  if he came here, we would schedule a walkout. Most of us are immigrants or come from immigrant backgrounds. Ted Cruz goes against everything our school stands for.”

That student and others said the understood there might be consequences to their actions but they were willing to stage a protest and walk out during one of their classes and accept whatever consequence they were handed… In fact, here is exactly what they said…

Hello Ms. Duggins,

Students Malaika Mataba (l.) & Shula Selby helped draft the letter...
Students Malaika Mataba (l.) & Shula Selby helped draft the letter…

A group of students will be leaving during 4th period, as act of civil disobedience in regards to the arrival of Ted Cruz to BLCPA. We have all considered the consequences of our actions and are willing to accept them. We respect you and all the staff at BLCPA as well as the expected guests. But we want you to understand that as passionate students, we have ideas and principles that should be heard and respected. This walk out isn’t a reflection of our discontent with BLCPA but our opportunity to stand up for our community and future. This walk out is taking place because we as students all share a common idea.

The presence of Ted Cruz and the ideas he stands for are offensive. His views are against ours and are actively working to harm us, our community, and the people we love. He is misogynistic, homophobic, and racist. He has used vulgar language, gestures, and profanity directed at a scholar and staff members, along with harassing and posing threats to staff and scholars according to the Disciplinary Referral slip. This is not to be taken kiddingly or as a joke. We are students who feel the need and right to not be passive to such disrespect.

The principal said…  “Your points are eloquently argued… in fact, so eloquently argued that upon reading your email, Khori Whittaker, the CEO of Lighthouse Academies has agreed to cancel the visit. I’d like to commend you and the other students for your commitment to your beliefs and values. I believe that I would not have been able to get the visit cancelled without your actions.”

You don’t go around fucking with folks and talking down to them and saying all kinds of other shit and then come around and say “Heighdy ho, neighbors… I’m looking for a handout”… because what all is gonna happen is what all actually did… a bunch of folks said, “Here’s your coat; here’s your hat; don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out”… and… by the way… Fuck you, too!

You got a friend…

Sometimes ya just never know where ya’ll may find a friend…or… at least a comrade in arms due to necessity…

Former First Lady Laura Bush kinda, sorta hinted that she might actually go donkey if Hillary should get the donkey nomination for prez…

At a “Women in the World” summit last week she was heard to say to the group assembled… “I want our next president… whoever he or she might be… to be somebody who is interested in women in Afghanistan and who will continue U.S. policies… that we continue to do what we’re committed to do as a country. That’s who I want… or the kind of people that will do that and will pay attention to our history, and know what’s happened before and know specifically how we can continue to do the good things that we do around the world.”

Laura Bush
Laura Bush

That word “she?”  Yeah… big hint… no?

I mean how many “she’s” are running for Prez? Well… there is  Jill Stein running on the Green Party ticket but somehow I don’t think Laura meant that word ‘she” to be about Jill…

Laura added… “I understand that Americans are angry and frustrated but we do not need someone in the Oval Office who mirrors and inflames our anger and frustration.”

Now who the hell could she be talking about there I wonder…  Trumpster? Could it be? Hmmmm….

Either way it’s a fact that both the Trumpster and Teddy Boy have d said that outside of fighting terrorists that we… as in America… have no other role in Afghanistan.

So which candidate does that leave? Bernie? Nawww… ain’t no way in hell Laura is going for Bernie…

I mean, yeah, she used to be a donkey before she married into the Bush clan. Still… Laura feeling the Bern? Nope. Can’t see it…

Leaves Hillary…

Now… ain’t that a kick in the bejeebers…

Truth, Hillary and those damn statistics…

Just the other day Hillary said, “Here’s what I want you to know. Most of the guns that are used in crimes, and violence, and killings in New York come from out of state. And the state that has the highest per capita number of those guns that end up committing crimes in New York, come from Vermont.”

She then added… “So this is not, ‘Oh I live in a rural state. We don’t have any of those problems. This is, ‘You know what. It’s easy to cross borders’ … People who are dangerous, mentally ill, domestic abusers, traffickers, they cross borders too and sometimes they do it to get the guns they use.”hills

Clinton was speaking before a group that included several women who lost family members to gun violence… including Sandy Phillips, whose daughter Jessica Ghawi died at t he hands of James Holmes in a Colorado movie theater in 2012.

Now this statement followed another statement she had said to group of donkey folks earlier in the month that went like this… “It’s going to be coming out in the very near future that many of the catastrophes that have taken human lives in the state of New York have been the product of guns coming over the border from Vermont.”

That is just plainly false. Actually it’s a fucking damnable lie…

So, she tweaked her words a bit and added the words “per capita” to her phrasing, and, in that way, her words had a tinge of truth but were still totally dishonest.

Folks I am here to tell ya… a rose is a rose is a rose… or in her case… a lie is a lie is a lie and regardless of how it is done… or shaded… it is still a lie.

Ever hear the phrase “There are three kinds of lies… lies, damn lies and statistics?”

That’s what Hillary Billary is doing…

She is using a report in 2013 from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives that actually states that Vermont, when adjusted for population, is the highest per-capita source of guns recovered in all other states. In 2013, 23 guns per 100,000 residents (147 total) were recovered by cops in crimes committed outside of Vermont…. the next-highest per capita state was New Hampshire, with 22 guns per 100,000 residents.atf-2013-traced-guns

See the sleight of hand being done? She’s a regular Houdini in how she fucking is so dishonest while telling the truth.

And… she is also using another ATF report from 2014 which puts Vermont in the top 15 states whose guns were recovered in New York.

But… when the total of all guns that were used in the crimes is tallied? Vermont’s guns are just a tiny fraction of the overall number of out-of-state guns recovered… or… in 2014 Vermont’s guns were 55 of the total 4,585 out-of-state guns. In 2014… Georgia guns totaled 386 and Virginia totaled 395.

Not convinced yet about how she is lying?

From the NY Times in November 2015… which by the way is a Hillary backer… “In New York and New Jersey, which have some of the strictest laws in the country, more than two-thirds of guns tied to criminal activity were traced to out-of-state purchases in 2014. Many were brought in via the so-called Iron Pipeline, made up of Interstate 95 and its tributary highways, from Southern states with weaker gun laws, like Virginia, Georgia and Florida.”

Or… From New Yorkers Against Gun Violence (July 2014)… “According to a new report from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives…  in 2013, Virginia was again the leading exporter of traced crime guns into New York State, with 423… the other states that top the list of out-of-state sources providing the guns used in New York crimes: Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.”

More?

The donkey senator from NY State…  Kirsten Gillibrand … when she was trying to get a law passed that made the  trafficking of guns a federal crime said that data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives reported that 8,539 firearms were recovered and traced in New York State in 2013. Of those, nearly 70 percent came from out of state. In 2013, 331 weapons recovered in New York State came from Georgia alone.

Funny… no mention of Vermont whatsoever…

The other NY paper the Post… bluntly says that Hillary falsely attacked Sanders by implication, when she told that group of donkey pols how it will come out that Vermont is the biggest supplier of guns coming into NY…

Their editorial board said, “Clinton must really be feelin’ the Bern, because her statement is preposterous… ATF firearm tracing data show that crime guns don’t come from Vermont. In 2014, the most recent year for which data are available, only 0.7 percent of guns recovered by police in New York had first been sold at retail in Vermont.”Gun_Stats_Lies

The truth according to the Post… “No, the facts aren’t on her side: In 2014, officials traced only 55 of 4,585 guns used in New York crimes to Vermont. Before 2013, there were too few to be reported.”

And just for the hell of it… The Washington Post called Clinton’s claim “… a misleading data point.”

There a sucker born every minute…

How little she must think of  the New York voters’ intelligence… but… unfortunately… she is probably right in her thinking…

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again now… whenever a politician…. and for that matter almost anyone… lies it doesn’t matter how often the lie is put to the test and proven wrong, all most peeps ever recall is the damn lie.

So… she, in all likelihood, has probably succeeded in doing what she wanted to do in planting that erroneous thought in many peeps heads as the NY donkey primary nears… Bernie is from Vermont… Vermont supplies the most guns to NY…

vote HilsNever mind that it’s the sneakily little factoid “per capita” that is the only truthful words she is speaking.

She is just creating a manipulation of a statistic to prove her erroneous point… when the only total that matters when talking about illegal guns being run into NY, or any other state, is the “totals” amount… not the amount per population… and… the only percentage that matters is how small or large it is.

Vermont is consistently under 1% while many southern states are consistently much higher… lots fucking higher.

Bernie’s relationship with the truth, compared to Hillary’s relationship with that important quality is light years apart…

Truth. It does a body, and soul, good. Try it Hillary.

Breaking news… we got fooled and screwed again…

“More than seven years after the worst of the financial crisis, Goldman Sachs is again paying a price for the role it played. The Wall Street firm said on Thursday it had agreed to a civil settlement of up to $5 billion with federal prosecutors and regulators to resolve claims stemming from the marketing and selling of faulty mortgage securities to investors.”

This $5 billion is in addition to the previous $3 billion Goldman paid to the Federal Housing Finance Agency in 2014 to settle claims with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac over the sale of flawed mortgage securities.

Goldman, which is scheduled to report fourth-quarter earnings on Wednesday, said the settlement would reduce earnings in that period by approximately $1.5 billion on an after-tax basis. In the third quarter, the firm reported a profit of $1.3 billion.

Goldman Sachs is among the last firms to reach a civil settlement regarding Wall Street’s role in floating bad loans to people to buy homes who when the market collapsed had no way to pay back the loans.

Bank of America in 2014 paid about $16.6 billion in a similar settlement with federal and state agencies, and JPMorgan Chase paid about $13 billion in 2013. In all, the banks have paid more than $40 billion in settlements to resolve claims investigated by the task force.fines

In addition… on May 24, 2015, International Business Times reported that 20 of the world’s biggest banks have paid more than $235 billion in fines and compensation in the last seven years for breaching a variety of financial regulations, according to Reuters. The financial institutions have been fined for misdeeds ranging from manipulation of currency and interest rate markets and compensating customers who were wrongly sold mortgages in the US or insurance products in Britain. The main offenders were Bank of America, which faced by far the largest levy of around $80 billion since 2008, and JP Morgan, paying up to $20 million.

In total, the banks were fined $141 billion for mis-selling US mortgages and $44 billion in compensation to UK customers.

Now… wanna know something?

Ain’t shit gonna change because the profits that can be realized by these banks, and the big bonuses that the execs can realize, by just manipulating a number here or a number there is worth the damn risk of getting caught and maybe paying millions and billions in fines…

That sounds like a load of bucks but that money to these firms in fines is nothing compared to the potential windfall in profits they can make.

Ain’t shit gonna change until some of these bastards who are responsible for these scams start being charged with crimes…felonies… AND… get sentenced to real serious jail time.

Until then… nothing to see here… keep it moving… just more of the same old same old…

Editors Note… As of April 13th the following 4th quarter earnings for 2105 were posted for 6 of Wall Street’s largest banks….

JP Morgan… $5.4 billion…

Wells Fargo… $5.3 billion…

Bank of America… $3.34 billion…

Citigroup… $3.34 billion…

Morgan Stanley… “only” $753 million…

Goldman Sachs… “only” $764 million… that’s after 2nd quarter earnings of $1.05 billion and 3rd quarter earnings of $1.43…

All after they paid their damn fines…

 Another thousand words…

  1. Joe — a touch of honey.

Recall tobacco — like guns — is a product which harms or kills when used as intended. The fight against tobacco included numerous lawsuits against those who manufactured and sold tobacco products. The plaintiffs only began winning those suits, however, when they started to show that the manufacturers and dealers withheld critical information, specifically the harmful possible effects of the products.

It is common knowledge that firearms can be used in a harmful way. But if the pattern of fighting tobacco is to be followed, it must be shown that those trafficking in tobacco are abusing their customers in some way.

On the other hand, by the principle that every right has a corresponding responsibility, the right to gun ownership has the responsibility to respect the rights of those who do not wish to own or carry guns. Implied by this is the responsibility on the part of everyone — specifically gun owners — to enforce the right of everyone to be free from gun violence and even the fear of gun violence.

Our society — and particularly gun owners — have not done this. Historically, a failure to enjoy a “right” responsibly has resulted in society withdrawing the right. Unless responsible attitude toward bearing arms is developed, and soon, the second amendment to the US Constitution may be doomed — not because most of us want to, but because society concludes it has to.

  2. I was, just this morning, conversing with a friend at work about former NFL football star Will Smith who was shot an killed in a road rage incident and I said that’s just more reason for not having a lot of folks going around carrying guns. People can’t control their emotions and sometimes do dumbass stuff that results in death. Death, last time I looked, can’t be recovered from or taken back.
As we continued our conversation, I said I have no problem with people owing guns for hunting (as long as they eat what they kill)… hell, I had uncles who hunted and we ate plenty of deer (and once had moose for an entire summer) meat back in them days. I also had no problem if someone wanted to own a pistol for protection within the confines of their homes. BUT I don’t want a bunch of crazy ass citizens running around with guns who many times don’t know the first thing about gun safety or think flashing a gun around makes them the winner in any argument. Shit has a habit of happening when you least expect it.
