Lets keep in mind that this is not a full breakdown of everything GOT, but more a primer of what has happened and what you need to know moving forward. (Example, the whole Drago storyline and Viserys? Not really needed since that’s a dead thread and everyone involved is dead.)
There are also a ton of minor players who will get their treatment.
Again, keep in mind, neither EJ or David have read the books, and don’t be that asshole that spoils the series for no reason but evil glee. What the hell is wrong with you? So if we miss something IN THE SHOW, by all means let us know.
Today, We are looking at the People in Dorne, including the Sand Sisters.
Stuck in a wheelchair due to gout, Doran is the brother of Oberyn Martell, and while he is upset about his brother’s death, he did die in a trial by combat, so there is no legal reason to strike back, and he also is unwilling to go to war. This has caused conflict with his brother’s lover Ellaria, who calls him weak to his face. Doran allows Jamie Lannister to take Mycella back to King’s Landing with his oldest son in an effort to keep the peace.
Earl: Doran to me seems like a character who should have a bigger role but doesn’t. We really got more Oberyn and the Sand Snakes the past few seasons than we have of Doran. For someone who is a ruler of the only kingdom that hasn’t been conquered, there should be more of a fierceness from him. Maybe we will see that this season, but I doubt it. I doubt how much of Dorne we are going to get, and if we do not get much Dorne then we get no Doran.
David: Julian Bashier in the HOUSE ladies and gentlemen! I really don’t get Doran here. No one has to hate the Lannisters more than Doran, having lost both his brother and his sister to them. With Dorne seemingly poisoning anyone and everyone, I don’t understand why Doran doesn’t just let Ellaria go and kill two birds with one stone. Especially since Dorne is known for not being conquered, they are Princes after all, not Wardens. The only explanation is Doran really liked Myrcella and thought she could unite the houses in peace or maybe he’s just a peacenik. The reaction of Doran and Jamie to her passing is going to be interesting.
Oberyn’s lover who went with him to King’s Landing and was there when he died. She wants revenge and calls Doran weak when he refuses her. She gets her four daughters to join her in her path to revenge. She wants to kill off the Lannisters, including Myrcella even though she is betrothed into the house of Dorne. Ellaria asks for forgiveness and Doran grants it. She later poisons Myrcella and kills her.
Earl: Ellaria gets her revenge on House Lannister with the poisoning of Myrcella, but I don’t really get why Doran doesn’t keep her in check if that is his desire to do so. Ellaria and the Sand Snakes unchecked could cause a whole heap of trouble, but I don’t know if we see much of her at all in Season Six.
David: I can see where Ellaria is coming from, but she just killed an innocent girl and the love of her . . nephew? There is a solid chance that Trystane is going to die and it’s Ellaria’s fault and lets be honest, its not anyone’s fault that Oberyn is dead but Oberlyn. It’s a trial by combat and he volunteered for it, and it was his own fault that he lost. I almost think she wants to kill something, anything and doesn’t care who gets hurt as long as she eases her pain with someone’s blood. I almost wonder if she’s going rabid bringing in her daughters to do the work as well. Doran is going to regret not killing her, and she better beat feet out of town before Jamie turns the boat around.
Trystane Martell is Prince Doran’s son and heir to Dorne. Tyrion Lannister gave him Myrcella Baratheon to further cement the Martell ties to the throne. Unlike a lot of arranged marriages, this one seemed to be working out as Trystane and Myrcella later grow to love each other. Trystane even tries to fight Jamie Lannister when he and Bronn came to Dorne to try and take Myrcella back home.
When Doran allows Myrcella to return home with her uncle (yes, we know) Trystane wants to go back with her, and his father allows it. Trystane is even going to be given a spot on the Small Council to help rule Westeros.
Earl: I have to figure Trystane dies somehow. In revenge for Myrcella.
David: I feel for this kid, I really do. Think about how smart Tyrion really is. The hardest place to take in the 7 kingdoms, and the only place never really conquered, and Tyrion takes the heir to Dorne as a brother in law to the King. Even when Oberyn gets killed, Doran is still willing to send his son to King’s Landing. Then Ellaria has to go and screw this up. I think Bronn might be able to keep Jamie from cutting Trystane into hundreds of little pieces and sending them to Dorne.
Number one henchman of Doran Martell, he carries a giant axe. We haven’t seen much of him, but the book readers creamed all over the internet when he showed up.
Earl: Anytime I see black people on this show I get happy. I know that is not the politically correct thing to say but damn it I said it. Good to see a brother pop up on the show, but there is no need to see much of him going forward.
David: Yeah, I’m writing the descriptions for this section.
Oldest of the three Oberyn daughters, hasn’t done much yet to make her different.
Earl: All of the Sand Snakes are eye candy. Nothing more.
David: Hot young, dangerous. Next!
Second Oldest of the three daughters, this one is the one with the whip.
Earl: More women for me to ogle.
David: Hot young, dangerous. Next!
Tyene is the daughter of Oberyn, and is the one that has gotten the most attention so far from the show, In a fight with her sisters vs Jamie and Bronn, she cut Bronn on the arm with a poisioned dagger and then made him swear she was the most beautiful woman in the world before giving him the cure in prison. She’s the most lethal of the three, as she also made the posion that killed Myrecella.
Earl: The hottest of all of the Sand Snakes but that bad pussy line from last season was highly cringe worthy. With that said, I hope they find some place to shoe horn her into the new season. Preferably nude.
David: Most attention in the show from Earl as well. I have no doubt the threesome will be impressive going forward, but I can’t see Bronn and Tyene having a happy relationship, but I do see why Bronn keeps singing about the women of Dorne.
