A return to the bloody old days?… a WTF opinion 3/16

no justice

A return to the bloody old days? I hope not but things be getting a damn sight on the scary side lately…

Today is gonna be a WTF take on some of that stuff but first… I need to reaffirm some stuff…

WTF is very opinionated and can very left of the middle of the political spectrum… WTF doesn’t believe it is always right because it is a column written by a human, but, it damn well does believe that its view of life is more on a correct course of where we all need to be getting to than most of the bullshit that is thrown at folks in the mainstream media.

One last thing… WTF’s opinion is its own… anyone is welcome to share it… or disagree with it… but… it is WTF’s and WTF’s alone…

So…

Welcome to a WTF view on some stuff that happened in the last week or so…

The days of decision…

joe1I’m not the first to think of it or to post a picture of that inglorious and fateful day from many yesteryears ago that changed my life as well as the lives of countless hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of others… hold that thought…

Donald Trump recently said that there are no consequences for protestors these days and that he was wistful for the days gone by when protesters could be taught a lesson…kentstate

Now… that thought…

Four dead in Ohio…

These are the good old days that the fucking idiot wants to go back to?

How about blood in the streets of Chicago… or the town of New Haven… while we’re at it…

Or, a return to the justice halls of Chicago where the Chicago Eight… yes… there were originally eight men and not seven… were on trial and a black man was bound and gagged and chained to his seat…

Bobby-Seale-bound-in-courtOr, a mayor who once said, as demonstrators were beaten bloody outside of the Democrat convention in  Chicago… “The confrontation was not caused by the police. The confrontation was caused by those who charged the police. Gentlemen, let’s get this thing straight, once and for all. The policeman is not here to create disorder. The policeman is here to preserve disorder.”

Are these the good old days that the Trumpeter of Discourse wishes to reassert for us all to go back to?

Because… Amerika I am here to tell ya’ll, if the Trumpeter of Discourse becomes the elephant nominee for prez,  I fear there will be a lot worse to come then what we have already seen at some of his rallies and speeches…

I lived them days and I can tell ya’ll they were not pretty or romantic or any form of glorious whatsoever…. they were damn scary-ass days and times… there were days I found myself in situations where I sometimes feared for my life and for the lives of those I was with…1968 chicago police

Yeah… cops can be real dickheads and fuckasses and brutal today, but once upon a time they seemed to act without any worry of  consequences for what they did and at times they did it with intense wrath and hate filled righteousness…

Things are still far from where they need to be but once upon a time in Amerika they were a lot worse and cops seemed to have the right to act with impunity for the rage and terror and sometimes the murder they waged upon anyone who dared to speak out against the so-called establishment… be it the war in Vietnam… racism… injustice…

Blue lines blurred…

A recent article in the NYDN says that a first time PBA union survey says cops in the NYPD have a morale that is underwater and falling fast since Bill de Blasio became the mayor of the Big Apple.

Which prompted the Patrolman’s Benevolent Association… aka the rank and file cop’s union… leader Patrick Lunch to say, “The understaffing, inadequate training, low pay and lack of support (under de Blasio) has had a chilling effect on police officers across the city. Police officers are risking and sometimes sacrificing their lives to protect their communities from real crime and mayhem, and now they live in constant fear of lawsuits, public complaints and are not supported by either the elected officials or the public.”

NYPD Academy grads...
NYPD Academy grads…

No one denies that cops have a tough-ass job… at least I don’t. They gotta deal with a lot of badass peeps… peeps that sometimes scratch the bottom of the barrel when it come to scumbags… hell… some have the morals of a rag that was used to clean a cesspool. BUT… cops also bring a lot of the vitriol they be getting from people upon themselves, too.

The reason cops they get their asses sued a lot is because their rep precedes them. That is… many times some of them do shit that ain’t exactly on the kosher side of life. In simple terms… some cops act like the scumbags they are supposed to catch and get off the streets.

Let’s face it, police brutality is not a fairy tale, it’s real. It happens every fucking day. It happens. We don’t hear about all of the instances but they are there every day that we live and breath. That needs to be brought to, if not an absolute end, the instance where it’s a rarity rather than an everyday occurrence.

Then maybe them lawsuits and public complaints might just start to wane and eventually level off to a minimum of happenings, too.

Patrick Lynch… your union members pretty much reap what they sow… quit defending the bad cops and maybe start doing your job of protecting the good cops and ya’ll just might find that the public might be more on your side than you would think.

Act like you are there for all the people and not just as the minions of the well to do… the 1%.

But…

… this also mean we the people need to take more responsibility for being better citizens, too.

A very fine man who was in the forefront of the battle for peace, justice and the rights of all the people once sang the following words. I hope you get the message because he says it in a clear and concise, to the point, manner…ochs

Oh, look outside the window
There’s a woman being grabbed
They’ve dragged her to the bushes
And now she’s being stabbed

Maybe we should call the cops
And try to stop the pain
But Monopoly is so much fun
I’d hate to blow the game

And I’m sure
It wouldn’t interest anybody
Outside of a small circle of friends

Ridin’ down the highway
Yes, my back is gettin’ stiff
Thirteen cars are piled up
They’re hangin’ on a cliff

Now maybe we should pull them back
With our towin’ chain
But we gotta move and we might get sued
And it looks like it’s gonna rain

And I’m sure
It wouldn’t interest anybody
Outside of a small circle of friends

Sweatin’ in the ghetto
With the colored and the poor
The rats have joined the babies
Who are sleepin’ on the floor

Now wouldn’t it be a riot
If they really blew their tops?
But they got too much already
And besides we’ve got the cops

And I’m sure
It wouldn’t interest anybody
Outside of a small circle of friends

Oh, there’s a dirty paper
Using sex to make a sale
The Supreme Court was so upset
They sent him off to jail

Maybe we should help the fiend
And take away his fine
But we’re busy reading Playboy
And the Sunday New York Times

And I’m sure
It wouldn’t interest anybody
Outside of a small circle of friends

Smokin’ marijuana
Is more fun than drinkin’ beer
But a friend of ours was captured
And they gave him thirty years

Maybe we should raise our voices
Ask somebody why
But demonstrations are a drag
Besides we’re much too high

And I’m sure
It wouldn’t interest anybody
Outside of a small circle of friends

Oh, look outside the window
There’s a woman being grabbed
They’ve dragged her to the bushes
And now she’s being stabbed

Maybe we should call the cops
And try to stop the pain
But Monopoly is so much fun
I’d hate to blow the game

And I’m sure
It wouldn’t interest anybody
Outside of a small circle of friends

Hey, what’s that sound?

Seems a video has surfaced online of a dude pissing in some cereal as it rolled along the production line in a Kellogg’s cereal plant.

Back in 2014…

Seems it took either this long to make it onto the net or for Kellogg’s top dogs to realize that it had been done did.cornflakes14n-1-web

A spokesperson said the video was from a period when the company was going through a “contentious labor dispute.” He said that the company takes this situation seriously and asked cops to investigate… and… the company is pissed off to the ultimate degree by this “completely unacceptable” situation and plans to prosecute the pisser to the fullest extent of the law.

That is… if and when they get the little pisser. Or… is he a big pisser?

And, for those that are wondering…

Yep… Kellogg’s does make Corn Flakes. And, nope, nobody pissed in anybody’s Corn Flakes. Rather, it was Rice Krispies and granola clusters used in other cereals and some puffed rice treats.

Chill, my peeps… all of these products are either now expired or not being made.

Now… the big question… did them Rice Krispies still go snap, crackle, pop, or, since they were pre-soaked, do they just go piisssssahhhhhhhaaa…

Are you serious?

8.7 lbs of cocaine confiscated...
8.7 lbs of cocaine confiscated…

Over the weekend the Connecticut Staties stopped a NY vehicle on I-95 for speeding. Seems the driver was acting a bit hinky. So, they asked if they could search the vehicle.

The driver said… sure.

The Staties called a local cop shop and asked them to respond with their drug sniffing dog. As Fido sniffed his nose away he started getting all hot and bothered and the Staties honed in on where Fido was most active and found a case containing four vacuum-sealed bricks of suspected cocaine… 8.7 pounds of the stuff.

The dude is busted. And, while no charges were indicated in the article I read, I suppose he is sitting in stir with charges of possession, possession with intent to sell and for being a dumbass.

Nobody’s fool…

The Trumpeter of Discourse has recently been saying that he would urge peeps who attend his rallies to go and fuck around and cause disturbances at Bernie’s rallies.

Specifically he twitted that, “Bernie Sanders is lying when he says his disruptors aren’t told to go to my events.  Be careful Bernie, or my supporters will go to yours!”

The Trumpeter also said Bernie was a commie…

Trump & Sanders
Trump & Sanders

Bernie’s reply was that Trump was in a word… lying. He also said that his campaign has never sent anyone to be violent at any other candidates’ rallies nor does his campaign condone protesters being violent. He also said he is not a communist. Implying that maybe Trump ought to try and stick his fucking nose into a history book or go on Wikipedia and find out what the difference between being a communist and a social democrat is…

Me? All I gots to say is this… just because folks believe in no war being a good thing… just because folks believe in peace and non-violence… it doesn’t mean they won’t answer violence with a good old hard asskicking in return… in defense of themselves.

Peace and non-violence and being against war doesn’t mean people who hold them beliefs need to be stupidass or defenseless. And, I got news for Trump and his band of bullies and cowards who like to act like a bunch of Nazi-like wild dog packs. Go ahead.  Send your dogs… send your hate and your venom… send your message. But, don’t be surprised if it gets returned stuffed up the messengers’ asses.

I hate being violent, but damn it, I will fuck you up, if you come into my neighborhood spouting hate and war and bringing shit onto my comrades.

Back off!

Recent piece I saw in the news says a video has surfaced that shows a driver who slammed on his brakes and the dude who was following his ass too closely… aka tailgating… had to swerve off the road and into a fence.tailgatingcrash

No injuries were reported, but, cops reportedly were trying to find and identify the driver who slammed on his brakes that caused the other driver to bail out in a hurry and eventually crash into a fence.

Why the cops wanna find the other driver? No one saw that damn raccoon jump in front of his vehicle?

Seriously, when is it against the law to apply your brakes anyway? Just asking.

I’m glad no one was hurt and all that but fucking peeps who tailgate need to understand ya’ll putting whoever you’re tailgating into danger as well as yourself and any passengers in either vehicle. And, sometimes shit gonna go and happen if ya ain’t careful…

Truth?

Can’t say I’m all that sorry that the dude fucked up his SUV… really… I can’t.

Another thousand words…

  1. “Four dead in Ohio . . . ”

This and the associated photograph are of the Kent State “massacre.” Coincidentally, four is the number who died in the Boston Massacre almost two centuries earlier. The woman screaming over the slain student was not herself a student at Kent State.

I was a freshman faculty member at the time of Kent State and had already established a reputation as an activist on campus. I was asked to keynote our tribute to Kent State, Jackson State (a similar incident at about the same time, but on a black campus), and to violence on campus in general.

The incident did not involve the police. It was the Ohio National Guard which committed the offense. They were on campus to maintain order in the presence of sizable student protests of ROTC and military recruiting. Both enlisted men and officers were untrained in crowd control. The NG backed onto a field with no exit behind them (bad tactics), and the crowd of protestors surged forward. The NG feared, and fired. Whether there was an order to fire or whether some enlisted men took to firing on their own is unknown.

The government appointed a Blue Ribbon Commission to look into this. (Blue Ribbon Commissions were popular then.) Its report faulted the NG and higher up authorities for effectively trying to supress a legitimate demonstration. It is interesting reading for those of us who lived through it — and also for those who didn’t.

The point is that it isn’t just the police, or the National Guard, but the authorities who ordered them who bear the real responsibility for those incidents. That is also true today for incidents where unarmed “pariahs” are being gunned down by authorities.

Is that the kind of yesterday we want to go back to? Really, Donald?

  2. You should write up your memories on that day. Would be nice to get a first hand account of that day.

  3. I would have to really delve into my memory banks but its a definite thought… I will say this… in my mind, it was THE movitivating moment that united the student peace movement.
