The Blog About Nothing 11/6 Edition

Logo BANWelcome to The Blog About Nothing, and welcome to the month of November. 2015 is slowly coming to an end, and 2016 will soon be upon us. In the sports world the Major League Baseball season just came to an end, the National Basketball Association has started and the NFL and college football is starting to get down to the nitty gritty. It’s a good time to sit back and catch your favorite sport on the boob tube.

First off let me say congratulations to the Kansas City Royals for winning the World Series. The Royals won the 2015 edition, 30 years after winning their last title in 1985. Kansas City knocked out the New York Mets in 5 games in what was a good end to the post season. Despite sitting here wearing a New York Mets hooded sweatshirt which I bought at a deep discount, the day after the Series ended, I do not feel too heartbroken that the Royals beat my hometown team.

Why? The Royals were the better team. Kansas City clearly had one goal on its mind all season and it was to get back to and win the World Series after losing to the San Francisco Giants last season. They led their division from start to finish, and they rolled through the American League playoffs. So, despite the young aces the Mets were putting out there every night, the Royals deserved the win.

kansas-city-royals1-I can’t front though. I wanted that Series to be over in less than 7 games because that would mean that Empire would have came on this week. Look, I love me some Empire! They done kidnapped Hakeem just before the World Series started, and I wanted to know who in the hell would kidnap Hakeem Lyon. After Wednesday night’s episode, I still don’t really know who kidnapped Hakeem, but if you gave me a choice between Game 7 of the World Series and watching Empire, I can tell you with a straight face that I’m choosing Empire. It’s the best show on television not named Game of Thrones.

Speaking of Game of Thrones, with HBO airing a new series called Vinyl from February through April, it looks like we won’t get Season 6 of Game of Thrones until May 1st. That sucks. Just once I would love to see the show with a tagline of “Winter is Coming” actually premiere in the Winter. Or at least when the temperatures in the Northeast isn’t pushing 70 degrees. Just a thought. Well more of a disappointed rant from me really. It really freaking sucks HBO but at least I got a new season of Girls, and the aforementioned Vinyl to tide me over until then.

I’m about to close this thing out because I do not have much to really riff on this week. The events of my life has left me a bit burnt out. I got a lot on my plate to be honest, and as much as I have on my plate, I have twice as much on my mind. We all have problems, so no need to burden anyone with them. No. I’ll carry that burden like Sisyphus carried the boulder up the mountain.

Considering I have a large tattoo of Sisyphus on my left arm, you can probably tell that I relate to the mythical Greek figure. It’s life. It’s never easy and you’re probably tired of me saying that shit every week. It’s true though, that it is life. You got to do what you got to do.

So, while I sit here listening to Puff Daddy’s legendary album No Way Out, and thinking back to a simpler but almost as crazy time in my life, all I got to say is not every blog is going to be great. I got greatness in me, but that light of greatness does not shine every week. Sometimes that shit be on dim. This week it’s off.

I’m done. Peace.
