RESPECT…

This week it’s all about respect… given and denied…

9/11 stuff…

joe1Adrian Grenier is a name known to me only because I see it, from time to time, in the newspaper I read every day … I know very little about the dude…

But hear me on this… after something he posted words on social media about 9/11… in my opinion the dude needs to check hisself and develop a bit of respect and sense of priority.

On Friday’s anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks… and as far as I am concerned an act of war, too… he posted this on Instagram…

“R.I.P. the 2,996 Americans who died in 9/11. R.I.P. the 1,455,590 innocent Iraqis who died during the U.S. invasion for something they didn’t do.”adrian tweet

September 11th is a day when people still remember things a little too hard because it still hurts  their hearts and souls a hell of lot… the loss of loved ones, precious relatives, friends and loved one… people died and had their lives irrevocably changed when planes were hijacked by misguided militants who crashed in NYC’s Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and onboard United Flight 93 in a  field in Pennsylvania.

There were words tosses back and forth… words that condemned Grenier… words that also supported him….

One tweet in support said, “Apparently a good chunk o’Twitter doesn’t understand that honoring history with truth IS patriotic.”

Grenier is supposedly, from what I read, an avid social activist and environmentalist.

I was, and in some ways I still am, an avid social activist… and to some extents an environmentalist myself…

Back in the day I was helping take over a university on May Day… four day dead in Ohio… I demonstrated in NYC and DC… got pepper gassed…. I was against the war and I was marching in the streets for justice and equality.

In a word… ok… maybe a few words…I was an angry young man… a rebel… but through it all I tried to always maintain a perspective of respect…

Grenier… with his choice of words on 9/11 needs to learn that perspective….

Sorry… on the anniversary for this generation on what I think is a day that is akin to Pearl Harbor to a past generation… you do not “R.I.P. the 1,455,590 innocent Iraqis who died during the U.S. invasion for something they didn’t do.”

Regardless, of the fact whether it is true or not…. Regardless of the fact whether I  agree with it or not… and to some extent I do…

It is disrespectful and it degrades the day and degrades of the memories of those lost and it degrades the still mourning and still recovering.

But…

As wrong as I believe Grenier’s words were, and, as disrespectful that I think they were…

…along comes an asshole…

Who takes it to an unimaginable and unbelievably disrespectfully and distressful level…

There’s this group out there called Twisted Devo and one of its members is truly living up to the name…

Bass player Jerry Casale got married… got married with a 9/11-themed celebration… freaking complete with cakes baked in the shape of the fallen twin towers and real box cutters as pace setting favors … AND… on the anniversary of the terror attacks…. September 11th

But when pics of the cakes and favors went on the gossip site TMZ… the little dirty coward said it wasn’t me… it was someone else… “One of my friends said, ‘I’ll take care of the cake.’ That was his contribution. And it was supposed to be a surprise. Well, it was.” screen-shot-

Then he tried some damage control when he said…“I joked and said Krista and I are like the twin towers of love and love conquers all and we’re going to resurrect those towers.”

One observer, Michelle Miller, in an email to the Daily News said, “I am in disbelief that someone would think to turn that day into a wedding day theme… Shame on him, his wife, his guests, and even the restaurant for participating in such garbage. A box cutter? My brother turned to ashes as the South Tower fell on him and people died at the Pentagon because of box cutters.”

devo-wedding-2Ultimately, Casale accepted some responsibility… somewhat… when he said… “The reaction is predictable and I apologize to everyone who would be offended because I understand.”

No… you fucking do not… you officious self absorbed used-up douche bag…

Do what you want in this world… in this USofA ours we allow you to be as blazingly a dumbass insensitive boob and as much of an  asshole as you want to and can be…

By the same token I get to call you exactly what you are when you do such dumbass ignorant… nay not ignorant, rather asinine… behavior.

Grenier was trying to make a point… an ill-timed one… but a point…

This asshole was trying to nothing more than get attention and unfortunately succeeded…

RESPECT…

Update…

… now the poor puke says what that the dentist who killed the lion was a lot worse than what he did with his 9/11 wedding… and all this uproar about his wedding ceremony is making it a difficult time for him and his wife.

Cry me river… ya pays ya moeny and ya takes yer chances…

Listen up…

These are words I believe solemnly…

Everything you do in life effects everything else in life whether you realize it or not… and… every decision you make is your responsibility… you are responsible for what you do… and every decision has repercussions and results… and responsibilities… good, bad or indifferent.

Fact of life… for every action there is a reaction… so goes life…

Casale… you made decisions and now you have to live with them… so quit your sorry ass crying and man up… ya bitch-ass.

I hate beating a dead horse …

…at least a horse that should just crawl off, and, if not die, then just fade away… please….

Bringing back memeories of Wee Willly Clinton… when he quibbled about the definition of certain ideas like…  it’s not smoking pot for real if you don’t inhale… or… its not really sex if… well… ya’ll get the gist here…

Now… it’s all about what you mean by “homeless.”Homelessness On The Rise In New York City

Rudy Giuliana never knows when to STFU.. most bombastic egotists usually don’t.

Rudy Kazooty in an ongoing argument with present NYC Mayor de Blasio, said “Here’s how ignorant Mayor de Blasio is … people who are in shelters, I would like to inform the mayor, are not homeless. ”

Big surprise to them  guvmint honchos who do the counting and analyses of the homeless…  and… got some other homeless advocates real pissed off, too.

this is not a home...
this is not a home…

Jennifer Flynn of Vocal-NY, “Of course people in homeless shelters are homeless.”

Ummm… let’s see… shelters for the homeless… kinda makes me think if ya’ll ain’t got no home to stay in and you go to one of them shelters for the homelss then ya’ll just night be… homeless?.

No?

Now who’s ignorant?

Go look up stupid in the dictionary…

….and you may find this dude’s pitcher there…The_Stupid__It_Burns_

Dude gets stopped by Vermont State Police after other drivers call 911 about a “vehicle traveling in excess of 100 mph and weaving in and out of traffic.”

When cops finally found him on the road and were ble to pull him over this is what he said…  “(He) was headed to traffic court to take care of a speeding ticket.”

He’s now got a return engagement to appear in Vermont Superior Court in White River Junction on October 27  to answer to new charges of negligent driving and speeding.

Ya don’t always get what you want…

…but, if you try some times you get what you deserve…

On Tuesday (9/8) an Australian woman was pissed off at Queensland cops who had closed off her area due to a investigation that had been begun.aussie 1

Her problem?

She was not being allowed into hero house.

She became more and more irate and then shouted… “I’m standing right here, that’s where me and my dogs are standing. I’m standing right fucking here.”

aussie 2Cop steps in at that point and BAM! Dog shit in a baggie right in the kisser.

AND Double BAM! With a big old side order of extra BAM!

She done did got what she paid  paid for… her ass throwed to the ground, arms twisted behind her back and wrists cuffed and hauled off to the hoosegow.

I gotta say more?

How’s the air up there…

Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal recently exposed himself… NO! Ya slut minded fiends… not like that…

He tells sports reporter Graham Bensinge that, “My agent called me up and he says ‘Howard Schultz (Starbucks’ CEO) wants to do business with you. ’”

Seems the CEO of Starbuck’s CEO, was pitching the idea of opening franchises in predominately black communities with O’Neal’s help.

O’Neal says he is like… “Coffee, eh.”

He continues, “Because growing up, in my household, I’d never seen a black person drink coffee. So it was my thought process that black people didn’t drink coffee.”

He goes on to profess that “…if I don’t believe in it, I can’t do it. No amount of money can make me endorse something that I’m not 100% behind.”

So, O’Neal politely told a shocked CEO, “Nah.”Shaq

And, now,  as he walks around practically every place where peeps do any sort of business whatsoever… he sees them ubiquitous Starbucks all over the damn place…

“That was one of my worst business decisions… I’m like, ‘Awww.'”

Blackfolks don’t drink coffee???? Say wha…

I know he’s tall and all that but the air can’t be that thin up there can it?

Workers of the world…

A lot of folks think unions are bad… some think their time has passed.. .without unions understand this… there are no 40-hour work weeks.. .this is no time and half for OT… there are no two week or longer paid vacations… there is no disability pay… there is no a lot of stuff if the truth is told…

Still in this day and age peeps wanna break the unions… they want to take away from workers of all stripes and kinds, the unionized and by default eventually the un-unionized, their rights as people in the workplace and return to a day when the rule of the corporation bosses was the only rule and it always ruled for them… in their favor.. for their profits. They want to essentially reduce us all back to being nothing but things that are only a means of production so they can milk ever greater profits from us all…scott_walker_iowa_

Scott Walker defined himself as the antiworker candidate back when he led a successful union-busting effort as the governor of Wisconsin and now the single-digit-in-the polls prez candidate is pledging to be a union breaking president if he somehow could be elected.

But, let the words of newswriter and author Denis Hamill, the son of an old time unorganized worker, tell you what unions mean to us all…

Hamill says Walker told a Las Vegas town hall meeting if elected he would break all federal government unions and make all workplaces “right-to-work”… unless individual states vote otherwise.right work

He would scrap the National Labor Relations Board that helped create the American middle class by assuring union workers a fair, living wage with benefits. And, he would do everything in his power to make it as hard as he could for a union to organize and exist.

Hamill writes…

“I know what it’s like to live in a family where the breadwinner has no union protection.

My father, an amputee, came from Ireland to New York in the 1920s, and he became a factory worker making electrical appliances.

He worked long hours for close to minimum wage in awful conditions. He had no paid sick leave or health benefits. His factory had scant heat in winter and no cooling system in summer. If you complained, you were fired.anti-union-card1

In the early 1960s, my father’s factory was unionized by Local 3 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He received an immediate raise, vastly improved working conditions, job security, paid sick days, time and a half for overtime, paid vacation and a pension plan.

One life-changing benefit was that four of my father’s American sons worked in Local 3’s college helper program on construction sites at fourth-year apprentice pay, hauling galvanized pipe, pulling skyscraper wire through soaped pipes, learning basic electrical skills and getting coffee for the skilled salt-of-the-earth journeymen who helped build this great city of ours.

The money we earned paid our CUNY application fees, tuition, books and rent. It enabled most of my father’s kids to go to college and on to good jobs and careers.

So I take personal offense when I hear Walker tell The Associated Press, “Many… including the union bosses and the politicians they puppet… have long benefited from Washington rules that put the needs of special interests before needs of middle-class families.”

Reagan-Supports-UnionsExcuse me, Ebenezer Walker, but my father’s union rewrote the life story of my family. The year after my father became a Local 3 man, we had our first-ever vacation, in a bungalow in Keansburg, N.J. The brotherhood of my dad’s union lifted my family out of tenements and housing projects into the middle class. Before every Thanksgiving dinner, my father would look over the bounty and raise a toast to “Local 3 President Harry Van Arsdale Jr.”

So when I hear a clown like Scott Walker promising to bust unions from sea to shining sea, I see a guy who wants to send American middle-class workers back to the sweatshop and into a two-tiered nation of haves and have-nots.”

Hamill then tells Sherry Hamilton’s story…

Hamilton came to NYC from Antigua and Barbuda in the early 1990s and worked for low wages and with no benefits as a nanny… then at an un-unionized Nordstrom’s for a year.

She was struggling and floundering to make ends meet… to keep a roof over her head and subsist.

Then she found work at Macy’s… joined Local 1S of the Retail, Wholesale & Department Store Union.

Because of that one turn in her life… working at Macy’s and joining a union she was able to change her life.brady union

She worked part time and finished school… was hired fulltime by Macy’s as a sales associate… was able to help put her son through college… none of which would have ever took place if not for being a part Local 1S.

She now works as a business agent with the union where she says she “…can now help other workers.”

Hamilton says… “Without a union like Local 1S, I would never have become middle class. Scott Walker has it completely backwards.”

Amen and alleluia!

Some final words…

If, unions are eliminated then the greedy corporate bosses will have had their dreams fulfilled… they will have destroyed the middle class; they will have even destroyed the working class… there will be no upward mobility for any of us… and all of us… black, white, brown, yellow, etc… will be returned to being nothing more than chattel and the slave labor forces that they had always wanted all along… in other words we will all be niggers on the bus and nothing more.

Imagine that…

  1. Joe,

Regarding the 9/11 comments, it is sometimes difficult to compare injustices. I agree that the two comments — one regarding those who died on 9/11 and the other regarding those who died from Iraqi invasions — are both valid. But in my opinion putting them together minimizes both.

It is also true that the union/no-union polarization is as strong now as it has ever been. I was an “instigator” helping to create our union at work. Once we won the election, we actively recruited people who were anti-union or neutral to be one the union board and to take other union offices. Our pitch was “The union is here. If it is to work, it needs to represent everyone. We desperately need you participation.

We succeeded — at least partially. After forty years we have a checkered history of the conservatives holding the radicals by their coattails to keep them from jumping off the nearest cliff, and the radicals dragging the conservatives kicking and screaming into the twenty-first century. We have made some mistakes — a few bad ones — but they are our mistakes. And the benefits are recognized by almost all members as worth the effort.

Yes, there is a world where unions work well. They are not as destructive as those who criticize them would have you believe even if they are not as beneficial as those who support them would have you believe.
