WTF 8/19… a view of the week’s news…

The WTF version of the week’s news…

A sometimes jaundiced and askewed but always honest view of the week’s news… both present and past…

Opinonated? Yep.. bet yer ass it is and it’s all mine… as unadulterated and pure D steeped in honest  gut instinct as I can give it…

Last week in WTF…

joe1I wrote about how an unarmed young dude was shot to death by cop in a Seneca (SC) Hardee’s parking lot. A Seneca PD LT has said an officer in self defense because Zachary Hammond… the aforementioned young dude… was armed by the fact he was using his car to endanger the officer.

All of this occurred because the Seneca cops were doing pot busts… busts involving possession of small amounts of weed. Like grams of the stuff as opposed to even OZs.teen-killed-by-cop-over-weed

At the time of my first writing about this kid’s death by cop his parents and other s were claiming that not much was happening to investigate some curious events that challenged the “official” cop’s opinion of how Zachary met his demise. And, a part of that not much happening might be because Zachary was white as opposed to being black. At least, that was one of the things his family’s lawyers peeps were hinting….

Now, I ain’t sure about any of these claims because outside of an official autopsy and determination by the coroner’s office and an unofficial private autopsy commissioned d by Zach’s mom and pop not a whole hell of a lot of “facts” are readily apparent… not that I have seen any way.

A large part of why them “facts” ain’t readily apparent is… and it doesn’t make me feel all good inside about the Seneca PD being all up front about what went down when Zach got his ticket punched to his last rodeo… ahem… “State investigators have refused to release dash cam videos from the shooting death of an unarmed, white teenager in South Carolina as his family claims police desecrated the young man’s body. The State Law Enforcement Division denied a public records request by the The Post and Courier to disclose videos from Seneca Police Department patrol cars.”

Now, I ain’t gonna make a any big issues here about the Seneca cop shop… cause like I say I don’t have a lot of info… but, if, there be any truth to Zachary’s family’s letter to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch and FBI Director James Comey that says not only were Zach’s civil rights violated when he was shot and killed but that the Seneca cops also disrespected the youth’s body by lifting his dead hand and slapping it with a high-five gesture… then them cops down there in good ole South Carolina gots themselves a lot of splaining to do…

Added to the cops’ refusal to give over the video of the killing scene comes this claim from the Hammond family’s attorneys…. a witness saw police pulling something from a patrol car trunk and placing it under the teen’s body.

Yep… quite a bit of splaining to do if ya’ll ask me…

Miami blues…

Shenitria Blocker took a cell phone video last Thursday that seems to show a Miami cop jumping on top of a handcuffed suspect in a cruiser. Ms. Blocker had no Facebook page so a friend, Marilyn Smith uploaded it for her on her page…

And the shit is hitting the fan from every which way it can.

Blocker said she began filming when a guy who was handcuffed and being walked over to a cruiser ask why he was being arrested…miami16n-3-web

The 47-second video shows the cop saying he didn’t have to tell the guy why he was being busted and then as he is placed into the cruiser being jumped upon and hit a couple of times. Then it abruptly ends as it appears someone swipes at the cell phone… a woman’s voice is heard saying “Don’t touch my phone, baby, move.”

Blocker told The Associated Press that as she was filming the one cop pouncing on the so-called perp that another cop came up and told her to “…stop recording, that I can’t record.” Then the cop slapped at her hands and her mom took the phone and hid it. She also said the officer slapped at her hand as they talked and that her mother took the phone and hid it.

Blocker claims that cops told her to delete the video or she would be arrested…

miami16n-2-webIt wasn’t… as it was put up on Facebook… and she wasn’t busted for anything…

The video was viewed about 80,000 times by 11 p.m. Thursday… then it was taken down from Facebook.

Hmmmm…

Miami Police Maj. Delrish Moss has said the cop accused of doing the pouncing and punching has to surrender his gun and badge until the investigation is complete. BUT… never did say why the handcuffed guy was being busted.

The president of the Miami police union said it the union is “confident” any investigation will show “that the police officer was doing what he is supposed to be doing: Protecting our Community.”miami16n-1-web

Union officials then turned their attention towards the Facebook page owner… Marilyn Smith… and said she is part of the “reckless behavior” that led to the incident… they said “extremely concerning” pictures on her page show Smith with “young men armed with handguns.”

Then Smith’s Facebook page was taken down.

Hmmmm…

A Lt. Ortiz told the Daily News “this #blacklivesmatter movement is out of control” and that he’s tired of its “double standard.” He said, “If a white person says (all lives matter), it’s racist.”

He also added that we have juveniles posing with weapons and it’s accepted by the community.

Stop right there, LT…

There may be some folks in some places who think armed juveys is ok… but… I am willing to say, and bet, that it is a distinct minority. AND, that just you saying what you said… you are an opinionated narrow-minded idjit who can do nothing more than categorize large groups of people with generalized condemnations. And, if, that ain’t racist, then, tell what it is then.

Because, damn skippy, that is racism at its raging best.

I think I made my most important point … but… I gotta say… just from what I see here… some peeps rights done got violated…

Cop don’t gotta tell you why you being busted? Maybe they don’t do it but they sure is supposed to…

Anyone at any time hear about the dude getting his rights read? … thought not…

And since when can’t folks take videos of cops making busts… that was clarified not so very long ago… they sure as hell can and cops can’ t… or should I say ain’t supposed to… stop anyone from filming them doing their cops shit.

Justice…

Remember when I said a week or two ago that although I don’t grok or really think violence ever solves anything sometimes there comes along a circumstance that just begs for nothing but…

In Brooklyn… early Monday morning… some scumbag accosted a 52-year-old woman at gunpoint and said he would kill her if she didn’t do what he told her to do; busted out two of her teeth and then raped her. He then left her there emotionally crucified and fled…. She was taken to a hospital and is in as stable a condition as someone who has been utterly traumatized can be.rape18n-1-web

The puke is thought to have had his image caught on closed circuit camera as he walked form the scenje.

A report also says the puke may have a bite mark on one of this hands…

I wouldn’t complain if this mutt when he was finally busted he had some of his other stuff busted too…

Sometimes the punishment needs to fit the crime and the only justice found won’t be in a court room.

Texas is just different…

Texas Agriculture Commissioner, and elephant, Sid Miller shared a post on his Facebook page… big deal lots of us do that right?

Only lots of us don’t share posts that shows a mushroom cloud and then says that Japan has “been at peace” with the U.S. since the dropping of the A-bomb in 1945 on Nagasaki. At the end of the post it then says… “It’s time we made peace with the Muslim world.”

That post was shared this past weekend on Miller’s Facebook page and by Monday it had been removed…

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller (R-Stephenville)

Todd Smith, a political consultant for Miller, said he didn’t know why the post was taken down… he also said instead of folks being all pissed off over the post that they should instead be demanding apologies from Islamic terrorists, Iranian leaders and President Obama for their words and actions.

Smith added that Miller was not the one who put the post on his page but someone on his staff was… and… no… he wouldn’t conduct a witch hunt to find out who that someone was….

The Texas donkey party condemned the promoted post as hate speech and xenophobic.

Ya wanna know something… the donkeys are right…

Besides… even if Miller was not personally responsible for putting that asinine post on his page it’s still his page and he should take responsibility for whatever was posted… or… say the post is hateful and has no place in our society and that once I find out… and I will find out… who put it on my page, their butt is history.

In January, a Republican state lawmaker instructed aides to ask Muslims who visited her office at the Texas Capitol to renounce Islamic terrorists and publicly declare their allegiance to America.

Ok… peeps … ya’ll down there in the state of Texas? Ya cannot do that kind of stuff… it’s racist and it’s just freaking wrong…

Besides we in America don’t do that allegiance shit.

It’s kinda sorta illegal and unethical.

Some stuff that  happened in the past in early August…

August 1, 1838 – Slavery was abolished in Jamaica. It had been introduced by Spanish settlers 300 years earlier in 1509.

August 1, 1944 – Anne Frank penned her last entry into her diary. “[I] keep on trying to find a way of becoming what I would like to be, and what I could be, if…there weren’t any other people living in the world.” Three days later, Anne and her family were arrested and sent to Nazi concentration camps. Anne died at Bergen-Belsen concentration camp on March 15, 1945, at age 15.

NYDN A-Bomb headlineAugust 2, 1939 – Albert Einstein wrote a letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt concerning the possibility of atomic weapons. “A single bomb of this type carried by boat and exploded in a port, might very well destroy the whole port together with some of the surrounding territory.” Six years later, on August 6, 1945, the first Atomic Bomb, developed by the U.S., was dropped on the Japanese port of Hiroshima.

August 4, 1964 – Three young civil rights workers, James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner, were found murdered and buried in an earthen dam outside Philadelphia, Mississippi. They had disappeared on June 21 after being detained by Neshoba County police on charges of speeding. They were participating in the Mississippi Summer Project organized by the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) to increase black voter registration. When their car was found burned on June 23, President Lyndon Johnson ordered the FBI to search for the men.

August 6, 1945 – The first Atomic Bomb was dropped over the center of Hiroshima at 8:15 a.m., by the American B-29 bomber Enola Gay. The bomb detonated about 1,800 ft. above ground, killing over 105,000 persons and destroying the city. Another estimated 100,000 persons later died as a result ofradiation effects.

August 6, 1965 – The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The Act suspended literacy, knowledge and character tests designed to keep African Americans from voting in the South. It also authorized the appointment of Federal voting examiners and barred discriminatory poll taxes. The Act was renewed by Congress in 1975, 1984 and 1991.

August 9, 1945 – The second Atomic bombing of Japan occurred as an American B-29 bomber headed for the city of Kokura, but because of poor visibility then chose a secondary target, Nagasaki. About noon, the bomb detonated killing an estimated 70,000 persons and destroying about half the city.

August 9, 1974 – Effective at noon, Richard M. Nixon resigned the presidency as a result of the Watergate scandal. Nixon had appeared on television the night before and announced his decision to the American people. Facing possible impeachment by Congress, he became the only U.S. President ever to resign.

August 14, 1945 – Following the two Atomic Bomb drops and believing that continuation of the war would only result in further loss of Japanese lives, delegates of Emperor Hirohito accepted Allied surrender terms originally issued at Potsdam on July 26, 1945, with the exception that the Japanese Emperor’s sovereignty would be maintained. Japanese Emperor Hirohito, who had never spoken on radio, then recorded an announcement admitting Japan’s surrender, without actually using the word. The announcement was broadcast via radio to the Japanese people at noon the next day. The formal surrender ceremony occurred later, on September 2, 1945, on board the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay.

August 15, 1965 – Beatles palyed at Shea Stadium in Queens NY

August 16, 1977 – Elvis Presley died, at the age of 42. The cause of death was covered up by his family; but, it is suspected that it was from an overdose of prescription drugs that caused his heart to stop.
