 PC rules…

Are starting to take over our lives and all of a sudden folks is getting afraid to say “boo” for fear the political correctedness cops will be jumping out in force with both boots square upon the back…

Back in the anti-Vietnam days there was a song by the Buffalo Springfield called “For What It’s Worth” … a verse in that song went…

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you’re always afraid…

We need to stop being afraid and start standing up for what’s right and not what’s politically correct…

What’s color got to do with it… do with it…

joe1A person down in Virginia orders product from a big box store… let’s say Lowes… and they ask for the product to be delivered but then they call to tell the manager of their local Lowes that that they wanna make sure… for whatever reason… all of which are racist… under no circumstance is the person making the delivery to be black…

To be clear… the delivery person needs to be white or don’t make the delivery.

The manager of that Lowes…

  1. A) Says in as a polite way as he can… that’s not possible… If the man scheduled to deliver your purchase is black then black he will be or you can go buy your item somewhere else…
  2. B) Why, of course, I understand your concerns and we will make sure that the man delivering your purchase is white. After all it is your home and you can pick and choose who you wish to be on your property and/or in your home.
  3. C) Your request is not normal but since the product is already paid for, we will make an exception, but, understand… if, you make any future purchases whoever is scheduled for the route is the whomever that will make the delivery and that’s that…

Now, of course, there is no story here if answer “A” is the pick… at least not a very big one…

And there is a story if choice “C’ is made but at least some type of “doing the right thing” was attempted…

But, we all know that what really transpired was that choice “B” was made and that the Lowes of this Danville, Virginia location did exactly what the customer wanted… going so far as to contact the driver as he was enroute and telling him to return to the store…

Marcus Bradely
Marcus Bradely

Longtime employee Marcus Bradley, who is black, was righteously pissed when he returned and was told a white man had go to make the delivery and when he asked why the fuck that was, he was told “because you’re black and they don’t want you at the house”.

Bradley went back to work, but shared his pissoffedness with the local TV station (WSET-TV), whose reporter then confronted the customer on the front porch of her home

Bradley, an 11-year veteran of the company, said he was shocked, and so was fellow deliveryman Alex Brooks, who has worked with Bradley for years and was sitting next to him in the delivery truck when the manager called.

Bradley went back to work, but shared his pissoffedness with the local TV station (WSET-TV).

His long time co-worker and partner on many deliveries said, “To me, it just ain’t right for a business that we work at to go on with the woman’s wishes.” Brooks, who is white, told WSET he refused to get back in the truck and complete the delivery without Bradely. .

Bradley told WSET that he didn’t expect his employer to accept the customer’s demand…. “I mean, I thought that Lowe’s would take up for me.

WSET went to the woman’s hoouse who allegedly made the obviously racist demand and she said, “I got a right to have whatever I want and that’s it. I don’t feel bad about nothing.”

Forget that at least more than a few laws that prohibit discrimination of any type in the process of doing business were directly being violated… forget that her having her rights to have whatever she damn well pleased  violated the rights of Mr. Bradley to do his job…

So… what all was the final resolution of the situation?

Well, for once the parent company HQ did exactly what should be done… with little to no lollygagging about or wishy washy apologies that don’t really address the issue…

“The situation brought to our attention was troubling and an investigation was immediately undertaken. Under no circumstances should a discriminatory delivery request be honored as it is inconsistent with our diversity and inclusion core values and the request should have been refused. The investigation has concluded and the individuals involved are no longer with company.”

A Lowe’s spokeswoman, told The Washington Post that the manager involved in the incident has been fired and that the company wants its drivers to know that “we back them completely…. We’ve reached out to the drivers and one of our senior executives went to the store to apologize to them in person. We have zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind, and we should never have accepted the terms of the sale with the individuals who were delivered to.”

Simply put, the fucking dumbass clowns who kowtowed to what the racist woman wanted were told to take their own racist minds and asses and go find a jobs somewhere else…

And, in a word, the store manager, and anyone else who were involved in honoring the woman’s request had their ass… terminated… fired… canned…

Wanna bet there is a lawsuit waiting to be field by at least the ex-Lowes manager?

Hopefully, if, a lawyer does take the case, a court will tell that lawyer and his client to get the hell out of the court room and quit wasting the taxpayers money on frivolous and patently illegal and discriminatory actions.

But, still and all, that’s the way a businss should deal with obvious discrimination… cut to the chase.. .find the facts… and act decisively…

And, this is how it shouldn’t be done…

“If this is true we regret it, for this certainly isn’t what is supposed to happen.”

What all is that about? That’s MacDonald’s reply to a Norwegian woman’s allegation that she and her service dog and her 5-year-old daughter were kicked out of a MacDonald’s because they had a dog.

Tina Marie Asikainen & Rex
Tina Marie Asikainen & Rex

Never mind that she was visually impaired… never mind that Rex… the dog… wore a harness that had a sign in clear view that read “Guide dog,”

Now, Tina Marie Asikainen is threatening legal action after that Mickey Ds staff kicked her, her 5-year-old daughter, as well as her guide dog, out of the restaurant “because we had a dog,” Asikainen told NRK.

Tina Marie told Norway news service that staff “… were not interested in reading (Rex’s sign). There must have been 20 customers there watching while five employees loudly asked me to go. I started to cry, which isn’t something I often do.”

Police were called and workers at the restaurant were questioned. Asikainen says she will formally press charges for violating her rights as a disabled person.

When contacted by the NY Daily News the wishy washy answer offered by MacDonald’s corporate office was the aforementioned… “If this is true we regret it, for this certainly isn’t what is supposed to happen.”

Not… “MacDonald’s has gotten our legal staff on this and are in the process of dealing with the problem. If, the facts bear out Ms. Asikainen, then, there will be some Norway employees looking for work at a some other fast food joint… ya’ll can be real sure about that.”

All lives matter… no?

19-year-old Zachary Hammond was sitting in his car at a Seneca (South Carolina) Hardees parking lot while on a first date with Tori Morton when cops approached the couple during an attempted marijuana sting.

Seems Morton (23-years-old) allegedly was holding 10 grams of pot…

Now… understand 10 grams of pot ain’t even a half ounce of the stuff… I have no idea what the laws are in South Carolina but if it ain’t decriminalized then it should be decriminalized to be holding that little tad of maryjane… and… cops should not be worrying about busting people over such a stupid amount that will in all likelihood be tossed when it gets to court or at the worst get the holder a fine and a lecture from some pompitus of pomposity sitting on the bench. fatally shot

But… as luck would have it… Finagle’s Law of Dynamic Negatives ruled… “if anything can possibly go wrong… it will… and it will be at the worst possible moment.”

The results of that law coming into play were tragic…

Seneca Police Chief John Covington said that Hammond allegedly tried to flee and drove his car toward a police officer. Feeling threatened the cop used his gun and fired at Hammond’s car. And… in Covington’s words… “(The officer) fired two shots in self-defense, which unfortunately were fatal for the suspect.”

The Oconee County Coroner’s office said that Hammond was shot once in the chest and another in his collarbone-shoulder through an open driver’s door window and ruled Hammond’s death a homicide.

The coroner’s report doesn’t say how the bullets entered into Hammond’s body… whether from the front or back. And… he added… that he did not know Hammond’s exact position in the driver’s seat at the time he was shot.

But… another autopsy was done… a private one… and it is said to contradict the poobahs sitting in the seats of authority’s version of the shooting.

Mom and dad of the teen… who by the by, was unarmed when he was shot dead by cop, are outraged at the lack of public outcry over his death. And… they and other supporters are demanding justice to be done…

Yeah, the chief of the cops does say the car was being used as a deadly weapon and therefore the shooting of the “unarmed” teen was justified.

But… that other autopsy that was done? It seems to say that Hammond was gunned down from the side… and… that sort, kinda is in opposition to the cops account of the homicide.

A lawyer that was been retained by Hammond’s kin says, “When (the officer) shot, it was physically impossible for the car to hit him because he’s next to (Hammond). “So unless a hurricane comes and blows the car over, it’s physically impossible for him to be hit by a car at that point.”

The lawyer told Greenville Online that Hammond was “clearly, clearly (shot) from the back.”

Chief Covington says… “The car was still coming at him. That is… the car was turning toward the officer, who fired off his weapon to keep the vehicle from striking him it approached from an angle.”

Hammond’s parents and others are saying their fight for justice appears to have fallen on deaf ears.

Why is that?

The hired lawyer told the Washington Post… “It’s sad, but I think the reason is, unfortunately, the media and our government officials have treated the death of an unarmed white teenager differently than they would have if this were a death of an unarmed black teen. The hypocrisy that has been shown toward this is really disconcerting.”

You see Hammond ain’t black… he is Caucasian… white…  black lives tweet

Now understand… this is not to ignore that there is history of terrorism and racist actions against black folks… lynchings, beatings, seperate water fountains and business entrances, police dogs, firehoses, etc…  throughout Amercia’s history regading black people but still…

Hammond’s parents are left begging for answers.

“The investigation has been taken over by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

I have no idea what the truth is because I know very little but what I have read… but… if, the private autopsy has an validity and there is even a semblance of truth to the fact that one more time in this society a cop overreacted and blew away some person… some kid… black or white… then some shit needs to be done to make sure the truth comes out and the peeps involved get the proper ujustice deserved… both the living and the dead…

Because the reality is this…it doesn’t matter what the hell color somebody’s skin tone is… all lives matter. Cops can’t be going off half-cocked and just shooting off rounds willy nilly… especially because some kid may or may not have gotten a herky jerky notion in his head about being busted… freaked… and tried to drive his car away from the scene…

All because of 10 grams of damn pot.america vs portugal

We are not talking major dealer stuff here… this pot issue needs to be fixed all over the country so it is no more than a desk appearance ticket and the publicity needs to be gotten out there that lets all the peeps who might imbibe in a little toking up now and again that they ain’t heading down for hard time in the old pokey over some niggardly small potatoes quantity of weed.

Fix the damn proble and get it done as soon as possible and lets stop cops from having to deal with stupid stuff and get on with the bsuiness of being real policemen who are protecting and serving us the public.

Note… before some of ya’ll get up in arms about the word niggardly that I just used… go Wiki it or check with the Straight Dope website for its meaning…

I used it correctly and appropriately… so, for those who got offended or want to be overly PC… sorry, but, I use the English language as it is meant to be used to get across my intentions as best I can. I refuse to apologize for your ignorance.

And, I am actually offended by myself that I am writing this and including it in my column because of some readers who may have been offended by something they are unknowledgeable.

One more time… All lives matter… no?

I have had my experiences with cops… both good and bad… some of the bad has been very, very bad… some of the good has been while maybe not very, very good… has been decidedly not bad and, yeah, I would say it was good…

I’ve had cops cut me some slack when they didn’t have to… and  I have had cops give me help when it was needed.

So, I have definitely seen both sides now…

This brings me to this news item…

“An Alabama police officer was pistol-whipped with his own gun during a traffic stop… and then mocked by cop critics online.”

What seems to have happened is this…

A Birmingham detective was checking into a bunch of B&Es when he stopped a vehicle and he approached the vehicle… he told the suspect to stay in the vehicle while a marked police car came for backup.

The suspect got out of the vehicle despite the officer’s demands, and, began to argue why he was being stopped…

In an ensuing struggle the driver got a hold of the detective’s weapon and then pistol whipped the dude with his own gun… over and over and over and over…

When the detective was lying like a bunch of wet laundry on the ground the assailant finally left…

In about 15 minutes after the stop was made, the dectective was able to issue a cop is down and needs assistannce plea over his radio.

Not that long afterwards, incident pictures of the beaten up and bloody cop appeared on social media.pistol whipped 2

Twitter user @TriggaMane666 posted a picture of the ass-kicked and seriously hurt cop with “Pistol pimped his face n um chillen now,”

A Facebook user posted a picture of the beaten up officer face down on the sidewalk with the caption… “Pistol whipped his ass to sleep.” For whatever reason… maybe a reality check or a pang of conscience struck… the Facebook post was deleted….

Fellow cops were righteously and royally pissed when they heard about the social media stuff.

Police Sgt. Heath Boackle, president of the Fraternal Order of Police, said, “He was laying there lifeless and people were standing around taking pictures. If the tables were turned, and, that was a suspect lying there, they would be rioting.”

A suspect was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder in the attack. The suspect has a history of violent acts, including an assault conviction in 2006. He has at least a half dozen convictions dating back to 1999, and, as many arrests in which charges were dismissed during the same time period.

In all liklihood… he was known as a bad guy of qustionable character to Birmingham cops and that was the reason he was stopped in the first place… pistol whipped

Sgt. Boackle pointed out that the deaths of unarmed black men at the hands of cops nationwide have sparked massive protests with a backlash result being that now cops are hesitant to go into harm’s way because they might find themselves in a position where they need to act with force and every little thing they do gets questioned and they may lose their jobs.

And that is not a good thing… for any of us… the cops or us citizens…

Look, folks, we need to address the issue of police brutality. Real police brutality…

Understand this the cops are out in the streets dealing with some seriously badass peeps and sometimes shit happens and the results could be that someone gets hurt or dead. Hopefully, if that something happens it is not an innocent that gets jammed up by the cops but a cop (or cops) who acted righteously to protect us from being a future statistic as a victim of some wanton scumbag of a punk who could care less about anyone else but themselves… who would take a life as easily as let a life go on…

Boackle said, “If the officer would have shot him, then he would have shot an ‘unarmed man.’ Instead, he took the gun from the officer. The officer had every right to shoot him. We’re lucky we’re not talking about him killing the officer.”

Just to be clear… there are bad cops who need to be taken off the police forces around these here Yew nited States… ya’ll bet your ass they is…

Are there cops who could/would step into harm’s way at any moment in any day to do the right thing and take a bad guy off the streets?

Yep, there damn sure is.

To allow punks to go around beating the hell out of cops and causing their lives to be in jeopardy, or psosibly forfeit, is wrong. Sorry… it is.

To then put it up and praise such an action as being “cool” or “justified”?

Uh uh… Sorry I can’t get behind that shit…

Unfortunately, the bad cops have been bad for so long it is now necessary to vet every cop interaction that involves violence of any type… maybe someday that will change but don’t hold your breath thinking it happens tomorrow, or, any time real soon.

And, that’s something that all cops need to live with…

Hopefully…we all learn to discern when deadly force is either properly or improperly and act accordingly…

Meantime… cops… most of them anyway… are people, too. So, try and treat them as a person who deserves to live just like you do… someone who has taken an oath to protect your ass from the bad guys.

I don’t wholeheartedly agree with this saying from another era but it does have some merit…

Next time your ass is in danger… call a hippie… or a gangbanger… or a punk… and see where that gets ya’ll.

Bottom line… cop gets caught doing wrong shit then slam him with the full force of any law that can be done and treble the penalties.

But, if a cop is doing his job then I ain’t saying ya’ll gotta be all “Rah rah… lets go cops”, but, try and respect the fact the man, or woman, is doing a job that not a whole hell of a lot of people wanna do and he’s doing the best he can to keep the streets safe for you and your children.

FYI… The police detective was treated at UAB Hospital and released… resting at home with family.

All lives really do matter…

  1. Joe,

Part of the “cop problem” is that those trained and employed as police officers have developed a code of behavior beyond their training and oath of office. It is to cover for the misbehavior of another officer regardless of the violation of professional behavior or of oath to defend and protect the citizenry. This code permeates police societies to the extent that it keeps even “good” cops from being good when it seems to them to be necessary to lie and otherwise cover up the misdeeds of another officer. In other words, it is part of the “police society” custom that the lives of police officers matter more than the lives of the rest of us.
