Hello again wrestling fans. Its time for another round of #Ask7Pound. This week we are asked about Shawn Michaels and the Syracuse beat down, The Lawrence Taylor All Pro Team, and much more.

I would like to wish all of you a Happy Holiday season.

As a part of new segment on #Ask7Pound. Over the next ten weeks, I am going to pick your brain with David’s Top Ten Tag Teams. I will post a riddle to his team, and it is up to you, the readers, to try and figure out who this team is. We will start with #10, and work our way up to #1. Answer in the comments.

#10. This is the only duo from what I consider only the 4th promotion to be considered “world” – and both men have held that promotions World title. For one man of this duo, its the only singles title he has ever held in his career, and his lost it to his partner in this team. WHO ARE WE????

On to the Questions.

Wally from Memphis Tn. Asks about the Syracuse beat down.

Was Shawn Michaels really beat up by guys in Syracuse New York? I heard somewhere that the WWE used that as an excuse to get him off of TV.

No, Shawn was legitimately attacked in a bar in Syracuse New York in the fall of 1995. He suffered a severe concussion that kept him sidelined for the remainder of the year until he returned to win the Royal Rumble in 1996 and later that year defeated Bret Hart to win the WWF Title in the Ironman match. It was told that Dean Douglas, who won the title in a forfeit over Shawn Michaels at the In Your House pay-per-view was set to actually win the championship from HBK that night, but due to the circumstances that Shawn could not compete, they had Razor Ramon win the title over Douglas on the same night. But yes the incident in Syracuse really did happen.

Christina from Springfield (which one, I don’t know)

Why did Jake the Snake Roberts use a different name for a snake in the early 90’s?

Jake and Earthquake had a pretty good feud in the early part of 1991. Earthquake was known to not be afraid of snakes and stated over and over that he was going to eliminate Damien. That very thing happened (kayfabe) When Earthquake did use his finisher to squash Damien in the middle of the ring. Jake was in mourning for a few weeks and vowed to get revenge on Earthquake. Incert Lucifer who was supposed to be almost twice the size of Damien. When in actuality, it was the same snake according to some reports. So that was the reason of the name change. It was supposed to be a new snake.

Reed from UNC asks about Lawrence Taylor’s Wrestlemania match?

How did the WWF come up with the All Pro team? I noticed Steve McMichael was on that team, and a few years later he was in WCW. Were all these guys thinking of doing pro-wrestling?

It was pretty much up to Lawrence Taylor to enlist a few of his friends. In actuality, the All Pro team was entirely the work of Taylor himself. He pitched the idea to Vince, and Vince gave the green light. He recruited some football players who loved wrestling, and looking to make a buck or two, and generate some exposure. I don’t believe that all of them had aspirations of being in professional wrestling. McMichael did begin wrestling a year later in WCW when he teamed with Kevin Greene, turned on him and joined the Four Horsemen. He later defeated Jeff Jarrett to win the WCW United States Championship. I think only McMichael had serious plans to be a professional wrestler.

Ryan from Florida asks us a couple questions about tag team champions:

Were the Steiner Brothers the first team to ever win both the World and US Tag Team Championship in the NWA? I recall they won both while in the NWA.

On September 10th, 1988 The Midnight Express while being the United States Tag Team Champions defeated the Four Horsemen to win the NWA World Tag Team Titles. So the Midnights were actually the first to have the titles at the same time. The Steiners reign came in 1991, when they defeated the Fabulous Freebirds at Wrestle War 91 to win the WCW World Tag Team titles while being US Tag champions. The difference was that the Midnights never vacated the World Tag Team belts, and the Steiners did have to vacate the titles.

How many tag teams have won both the WWE and WCW Tag Team titles?

The following have one both the WWE and WCW tag team championships. Kane/Taker, The Hardys, and Dudleys all won the WCW tag titles after the Invasion when the WCW titles were on WWE TV.

Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard (The Brain Busters)

The Road Warriors (Legion of Doom)

The Steiner Brothers

The Nasty Boys

Kane and the Undertaker

The Hardy Boys

The Dudley Boys
