Young recently issued a letter to former Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher and it seems like he is starting to get his life together as he matures and deals with his actions.
In 2011 with the Philadelphia Eagles, he made 3 starts, including one where he completed 26 of 48 passes for 400 yards, 1 TD and 2 INT’s. For his career, Young has played in 60 games and is 31-19 as a starter. That is 49 more starts than recently acquired Matt Flynn. If Young signs he would be a decent backup since Terrelle Pryor is untested, but it’s quite possible the Raiders might have an open competition between the 2.
The Raiders defense has been revamped this offseason and it now looks like the team is trying to improve an offense that far too often settled for FGA’s rather than scoring TD’s. Seneca Wallace worked out for the team also, but VY seems to have prevented them from signing him.
If Young signs with the team, Pryor becomes the odd man out and the likely 3rd string QB, unless he is traded. And with a weak QB class in the draft, it becomes possible some team may offer a draft pick for Pryor, perhaps a 3rd or 4th rounder.
The Raiders need to sign Young and at worst, he gives them an experienced backup for the untested Flynn and Pryor can continue to learn from the sidelines as the 3rd stringer.
