After last night’s game 4 let me first say congratulations to the San Francisco Giants for their World Series Championship. When the playoff teams started shaping up I have to admit, the Giants were not on my radar screen as the possible Champions this year. We all knew they had great pitching but no one expected to see them dominate a good offensive club like the Tigers the way they did. Again, congratulations to the Giants.
As for the Tigers, I don’t think they have a lot to be disappointed in. Let’s face it, with the powerhouse clubs like Texas, Athletics and New York, no one outside of Detroit really gave them a chance to be representing the AL in the series to begin with. I personally think the sweep on the Yankees worked against them, at least offensively. The waiting never bodes well for guys hitting well. It seems like they are always over anxious at the plate when it comes time to turn their A game on again. And as we saw, the Giants pitching kept them off balance right up to the very last pitch.
For the rest of the teams that made the playoffs, well, there are some re-tooling and issues to be addressed by all. I do not see major overhauls with none of those teams. For those teams that finished last in their respective divisions I can see major issues needing attention.
We will see how it goes in the Free Agent market this off-season. I will be back in about three months or so to give everyone my opinion on the needs and wants as well as the possible signings and promotions.
Until then, see ya MLB fans.
