Finally Andy Murray has won a Grand Slam. Murray defeated Novak Djokovic 7-6, 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2, to win the 2012 U.S Open. He becomes the first British man to win a Grand Slam since 1936.

Murray was up two sets to none before a furious rally by Djokovic. Djokovic dominated the next two sets, before falling in the fifth set. After falling 5-2 and facing a Murray serve for the championship, Djokovic used an injury time-out to have trainers tend to a pulled groin muscle. When play resumed, Murray did not relent, winning the game only giving up one point, and claiming the U.S. Open championship.

After the match, a teary-eyed Murray had little to say as he was overwhelmed with emotion.
